Our mission is to make biology easier to engineer. Ginkgo is constructing, editing, and redesigning the living world in order to answer the globe’s growing challenges in health, energy, food, materials, and more. Our bioengineers make use of an in-house automated foundry for designing and building new organisms. 


 

We are seeking a versatile and results-driven Director of Marketing to join our Product Development team to play a critical role in shaping and executing our go-to-market strategies for new product launches. This is an individual contributor role ideal for a strong generalist who enjoys independently driving projects and strategy with hands-on involvement across multiple aspects of marketing. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing go-to-market strategies, leading successful product launches, and leveraging AI applications to improve the efficiency of marketing tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive go-to-market strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Lead the planning and execution of product launches, ensuring cross-functional alignment and success.
  • Leverage AI tools and applications to optimize and streamline day-to-day marketing tasks and processes.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, product, and engineering teams to integrate marketing efforts with broader company goals.
  • Analyze market trends, customer insights, and competitive landscapes to identify growth opportunities.
  • Create and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns to drive awareness, engagement, and revenue.
  • Partner with business development on conference and event planning and execution
  • Manage the marketing lifecycle, from strategy development to performance analysis, ensuring optimal ROI.
  • Serve as a thought leader and trusted advisor on marketing best practices and innovation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred). Alternatively, Bachelor’s or other advanced degrees in relevant science or engineering fields with applicable marketing experience are a plus. 
  • 8+ years of experience in marketing in the life sciences or biotechnology service industry, with a proven track record of leading go-to-market strategies and product launches.
  • Experience marketing to major biopharma companies, with a deep understanding of their needs and decision-making processes.
  • Strong generalist marketing skills, with expertise across digital, content, branding, and analytics.
  • Hands-on experience with AI tools and applications to enhance marketing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ability to operate effectively as an individual contributor with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze metrics and translate them into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with marketing tools, automation platforms, and CRM systems (e.g. Hubspot).

Preferred Capabilities and Experience

  • Experience in graphic design, particularly in creating marketing collateral and presentation slide decks.
  • Proven track record of developing products in the biotech service industry and overseeing multiple product launches.

      • Analytical work, including reports or presentations that demonstrate ability to analyze marketing performance, derive insights, and recommend actions.
    • Format: You may supply work in various formats, such as PDFs, image files, links to websites, or videos. Please collate all links and file descriptions into a single document.
