Manager , Software Engineering , India
Location: Hyderabad, India (Hybrid)
About the Role
We’re looking for a hands-on software manager who leads with a product mindset, not a project checklist. You’ll guide a small, high-impact team through the entire Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC) — from discovery and definition to delivery and measurement — while still writing production-grade code about 65–70% of the time.
You’ll work closely with the product to ensure we’re building the right thing before building the thing right.
What You’ll Do
- Lead by example: Design, code, and ship high-quality software using Angular (front end), Java (back end), and AWS Lambda for serverless systems.
- Drive the PDLC: Partner with product to define clear outcomes, shape MVPs, and iterate fast based on user feedback.
- Mentor and grow developers: Build technical mastery and foster product thinking within the team.
- Ensure engineering excellence: Maintain strong standards for reliability, testing, observability, and code quality.
- Collaborate cross-functional: Work effectively across time zones with product and infrastructure teams.
- Balance speed and safety: Use progressive delivery and CI/CD practices for fast, confident releases.
What You Bring
- 07 - 10 years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years of technical leadership or management.
- Excellent English communication — both written and spoken — to collaborate seamlessly with global stakeholders.
- Deep hands-on experience with Angular (v13+), TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and RxJS.
- Proficiency with Java (Spring Boot) or Node.js services.
- Excellent understanding of AWS services (e.g., EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, API Gateway).
- Strong understanding of system design, scalability, microservices, and distributed architectures.
- Experience designing high-availability, fault-tolerance, and secure systems.
- Hands-on with GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or other CI/CD automation.
- Experience mentoring engineers and conducting thoughtful, constructive code reviews.
- Strong product sense — able to connect engineering choices to user and business outcomes.
Nice to Have
- Exposure containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with Cloudflare Workers, AWS Step Functions, or serverless orchestration patterns.
- Knowledge of observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch).
- Performance optimization in large-scale Angular applications.
- Prior work in distributed, async-first global teams.
How We Work
We believe in empowered teams — small, autonomous groups of engineers and PMs who own a problem end-to-end. You’ll help decide what we build and how we build it, guided by Marty Cagan’s principles of autonomy, mastery, and purpose.
You’re a Fit If You…
- Care deeply about outcomes over output.
- Thrive in a hands-on leadership role.
- Build trust through clarity, accountability, and craftsmanship.
- I want to grow others while staying close to the code.
