About the Role:

The Senior Manager of Enterprise Systems Engineering, Employee Experience and Productivity will lead and manage the engineering efforts focused on enhancing the employee experience and driving productivity across the organization. This role involves managing teams with full-stack and integration skills, developing and executing a technology roadmap, overseeing the implementation and governance of AI and integration tools and ensuring the efficient and reliable deployment of applications to over 4000+ employees through a robust CI/CD pipeline. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, exceptional leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of how technology can transform the employee experience.

Reporting within Business Technology, this role is instrumental in driving key technological advancements and supporting core business objectives. This role serves as a critical enabler for digital transformation initiatives, facilitating agile product development and operational excellence through the provision and governance of reliable and advanced cloud services. The scope includes oversight of GCP implementation and hybrid cloud environments, with a strong focus on governing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) utilization according to best practices.

What You'll Do:

  • You’re accountable for a wide range of critical functions, blending strategic foresight, deep technical expertise (especially in Google Cloud), operational rigor, and strong leadership. This role requires a hands-on approach, with the readiness to directly engage in problem-solving alongside the team. Key responsibilities include:

    • Lead the development, refinement, and execution of the organization's cloud adoption strategy, emphasizing Google Cloud Platform (GCP) solutions where optimal.
    • Design scalable, highly available, resilient, and secure cloud architectures, leveraging GCP services and best practices.
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive technology roadmap focused on enhancing employee experience and productivity through cloud and related technologies.
    • Regularly review and adjust the roadmap based on stakeholder feedback (HR, IT, Engineering Leadership, business units) and changing priorities.
    • Identify, evaluate, and recommend AI (like Google Gemini) and integration tools to improve employee experience and productivity.
    • Oversee the implementation, integration, configuration, maintenance, and user adoption of these tools.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of these tools in achieving desired outcomes, using data to understand developer pain points and measure impact.
    • Recruit, onboard, manage, and mentor a team of full-stack, integration, and cloud engineers, potentially with a strong background in GCP.
    • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support, demonstrating readiness to "roll up sleeves" and solve complex problems directly.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous learning, and engineering excellence
    • Ensure efficient provisioning, configuration, and maintenance, championing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Google Cloud Deployment Manager.
    • Manage and optimize the organization's CI/CD pipeline for deploying applications to a large user base (5000+ employees), ensuring efficiency, reliability, and security, potentially leveraging Google Cloud Build or similar tools.
    • Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, managing IAM (e.g., Google Cloud IAM), security groups, network controls, and data protection within the cloud environment.
    • Develop cloud budgets, meticulously monitor spending (especially GCP costs), identify savings opportunities
    • Serve as a key point of contact for engineering delivery & execution related to employee experience and productivity, collaborating closely with HR, IT, Development, Security, Finance, Product teams, and other applicable department units.
    • Communicate effectively with executive leadership on progress, challenges, and strategic recommendations

What We're Looking For:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related field is required. Equivalent practical experience, demonstrating a comparable level of knowledge and expertise, may be considered.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure roles is necessary, with 4+ specifically focused on cloud architecture, engineering, and operational management within enterprise environments. Demonstrable experience in a senior technical or leadership capacity related to cloud technologies is essential.
  • Prior experience leading technical teams is required;preferably 4+ years. Strong analytical and complex problem-solving skills are essential, coupled with a willingness to be hands-on. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal skills, are necessary for effective collaboration with technical teams, senior management, and other business stakeholders.
  • Visionary Leader and a Natural Driver
  • Deep, hands-on expertise is required in at least one major public cloud platform: Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with a strong preference for or significant experience in GCP. This includes proficiency with core services such as compute (EC2, VMs, Google Compute Engine), storage (S3, Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage), networking (VPC, VNet, Google VPC), databases (RDS, SQL Database, Cloud SQL), and Identity and Access Management (IAM, Google Cloud IAM). 
  • Solid understanding of AI applications in enhancing employee experience and familiarity with tools like Glean, Gemini, Slack.
  • Experience with integration platforms and tools for connecting enterprise applications; Zapier, Workato, Muesoft.
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing cloud security controls
  • Experience implementing and governing AI-powered tools in a large organization.
  • Certifications in cloud technologies or project management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture principles

 

Pay Transparency
Your compensation may be based on several factors, including education, work experience, and certifications. For certain roles, total compensation may include restricted stock units. The compensation range for this position will depend on where you reside. For this role, the compensation range is:

United States

$133,000 - $200,000 USD
