We’re looking for a Legal Intern to join our Legal team for approximately three months in the summer of 2025. The Legal Intern will sit within our agile Grammarly Commercial Legal team and own projects to shape strategies around novel AI-related legal questions, helping the business scale and sell exciting evolutions in our product offerings. This is a unique opportunity to gain invaluable hands-on experience while supporting our sales team in closing deals and collaborating with various cross-functional partners, including finance, revenue, product, privacy, security, and our AI trust teams.
As Grammarly’s first Commercial Legal Intern, you will help collaborate with our business teams on some of Grammarly’s most complex and impactful deals and legal questions. In this role, you will:
- Work on at least one end-to-end legal challenge directly related to Grammarly’s high-level goals and priorities.
- Develop expertise in business problem solving, legal issue spotting, and redlining and drafting documents for business transactions.
- Perform legal research, analyze findings, and gather relevant facts.
- Giving oral presentations and communications to internal business partners.
- Review contracts and business agreements for alignment with Commercial Legal’s best practices for mitigating risk and delivering sustained value.
- Hone your transactional skills with opportunities to analyze policies and negotiate contracts.
- Partner with dedicated mentors to research, analyze and advise on projects you will own throughout your internship.
- Collaborate with a friendly team of legal professionals to get exposure to various in-house legal practices in addition to enterprise contracting, such as product and privacy counseling, intellectual property, and corporate counseling.
- Leverage your unique point of view to share feedback on legal strategy and risk management.
We’re looking for someone who
- Is a current 1L with a demonstrated interest in technology law and negotiations.
- Is able to collaborate in person at least weekly in our San Francisco hub throughout the internship.
- Brings a problem-solving and detail-oriented approach to their work, a track record of excellent organizational skills, and unfailing follow-up to effectively manage multiple activities of varying difficulty, priority, and complexity.
- Demonstrates the ability to independently move projects forward by gaining support from others while working in a cross-functional role.
- Brings an entrepreneurial drive and comfort working in ambiguous, quickly changing environments.
- Has a strong sense of accountability and integrity, taking ownership of projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively.
- Is a great communicator and has a service mindset that empowers others to hit their goals.
- Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
- Is inspired by our MOVE principles, which are the blueprint for how things get done at Grammarly: move fast and learn faster, obsess about creating customer value, value impact over activity, and embrace healthy disagreement rooted in trust.
