Job Overview
The Systems Engineering team at Harbinger Motors is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to define, develop, and verify vehicle-level system requirements for our next generation of electric commercial vehicles. In this role, you’ll be responsible for translating business and customer needs into clear, testable technical specifications, ensuring that every subsystem integrates seamlessly into the overall vehicle architecture. You’ll collaborate across multiple disciplines — from software to electrical and mechanical engineering — to deliver vehicles that meet our rigorous performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
This position requires a balance of technical expertise, systems thinking, and strong cross-functional communication. You will play a key role in shaping how we design and validate complete vehicle systems from concept through production.
What You Will Do
-
Develop and document system-level technical specifications for vehicle platforms, ensuring alignment with business, customer, and regulatory requirements.
 -
Lead the definition and decomposition of requirements from the vehicle level down to subsystem and component levels.
 -
Create and maintain detailed system architecture documentation, interface definitions, and design traceability matrices.
 -
Author, review, and manage requirements and test plans for vehicle-level systems and subsystems, ensuring full traceability through the product lifecycle.
 -
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams — including mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers — to ensure systems integrate cohesively and meet all performance targets.
 -
Conduct design reviews and verification activities, ensuring system behavior meets defined requirements.
 -
Support validation and testing efforts, including data analysis, issue resolution, and test report documentation.
 -
Contribute to continuous improvement of systems engineering processes, tools, and documentation standards.
 -
Participate in benchmarking activities to evaluate competitor systems and identify innovation opportunities.

Who You Are
-
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
 -
Bring 5+ years of experience in systems engineering within the automotive or related high-tech industry.
 -
Demonstrate deep understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements management, traceability, and validation.
 -
Familiar with industry standards such as ISO 26262 (functional safety), ASPICE, and other automotive quality frameworks.
 -
Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Polarion, Jama, etc.).
 -
Knowledge of software and digital communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.) and their specifications.
 -
Experience with hands-on device or subsystem testing and data analysis.
 -
Exposure to high-voltage systems and safety standards is a plus.
 -
Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
 -
Excellent communicator and collaborator with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-disciplinary environment.
