Strategic Finance Associate
Headway’s mission is a big one – to build a new mental health care system everyone can access. We’ve built technology that helps people find great therapists with the first software-enabled national network of providers accepting insurance.
1 in 4 people in the US have a treatable mental health condition, but the majority of providers don’t accept insurance, making therapy too expensive for most people. Headway is building a new mental healthcare system that everyone can access by making it easy for therapists to accept insurance and scale their practice.
Headway was founded in 2019. Since then, we’ve grown into a diverse, national network of over 45,000 mental healthcare providers across all 50 states who run their practice on our software and have served over 1 million patients. We’re a Series D company with over $325m in funding from a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), Accel, GV (formerly Google Ventures), Spark Capital, Thrive Capital, Forerunner Ventures and Health Care Service Corporation.
We want your time here to be the most meaningful experience of your career. Join us, and help change mental healthcare for the better.
As a Strategic Finance Associate, you will play a key role in optimizing our marketing budget, ensuring we deploy capital efficiently to drive provider growth while shaping our evolving patient acquisition strategy. Sitting within the Strategic Finance team, this role will provide data-driven insights, modeling, and financial strategy to inform marketing investments.
This high-impact, highly cross-functional role is ideal for someone who thrives in data-driven decision-making, financial modeling, and marketing analytics. You will collaborate closely with marketing, growth, and finance leaders to assess marketing performance, CAC efficiency, TAM opportunities, and monetization strategies.
This role is an opportunity to move beyond pure finance into a marketing-finance strategy role, where data meets decision-making to drive high-impact growth investments. If you are passionate about finance, marketing analytics, and scaling a high-growth business, we’d love to hear from you.
You will:
- Build and maintain financial models that assess marketing spend efficiency, performance, and impact
- Support budget allocation, forecasting, and scenario planning to optimize marketing investments
- Analyze large datasets in Looker and Google Sheets to evaluate acquisition funnel efficiency and marketing effectiveness
- Conduct TAM analysis and market research to inform provider and patient acquisition strategy
- Ensure data accuracy and develop dashboards and reporting tools to track key marketing-finance KPIs
You’d be a great fit for this role if:
- You have 3-4 years of professional experience, ideally in a mix of financial services (Consulting / Equity Research / Private Equity) and highly analytical roles at a fast-growing company (Strategic Finance / Strategy & Ops / BizOps)
- You are highly proficient in Google Sheets (advanced formulas) and Looker (or similar BI tools) and comfortable working with large datasets
- You are detail-oriented and have a “measure twice, cut once” approach when working with financial data
- You take ownership and are a resourceful self-starter—you proactively seek context, solve ambiguous problems, and anticipate stakeholder needs
- You communicate complex insights clearly, tailoring your message for different audiences (finance vs. marketing)
- You thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and enjoy collaborating with marketing, finance, and growth teams
- You are excited about joining a mission-driven company and driving marketing efficiency to improve mental healthcare access
