Category Management Internship - Summer 2027

SUMMARY

We are seeking a motivated and analytical Category Management Intern to support HexArmor’s product categories across Gloves, Helmets, Hearing, and Eyewear. This internship provides hands-on experience in category management, product strategy, market research, competitive analysis, sales support, and cross-functional collaboration.

The Category Management Intern will work closely with Category Management, Product Management, Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams to support initiatives that drive category growth, improve product positioning, and strengthen HexArmor’s competitive position in the market.

LOCATION

Onsite at HexArmor Corporate Headquarters in Grand Rapids, Michigan (640 Leffingwell Ave. NE Grand Rapids, MI)

SCHEDULE

This is a 14-week, full-time internship beginning May 17, 2027. Interns will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during our standard business hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Category & Market Research

  • Support Category Managers across Gloves, Helmets, Hearing, and Eyewear with market and competitive research.
  • Research competitor products, pricing, features, and positioning.
  • Assist with identifying market trends, customer needs, and potential category opportunities.
  • Help organize and maintain category and competitive intelligence.

Data & Business Analysis

  • Assist with analyzing sales, product, and market data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Build and maintain Excel reports and tracking tools.
  • Support the preparation of presentations and materials for category reviews and business planning.

Product & Marketing Support

  • Develop knowledge of HexArmor’s products and their applications across all four categories.
  • Assist with product launches, product updates, sales tools, and training materials.
  • Support Product Management and Marketing with research and project-related needs.

Sales Support

  • Assist Category Management and Sales with customer and market research.
  • Help prepare materials for sales meetings, customer presentations, and product training.
  • Gather and organize feedback related to customer needs, competitive activity, and product opportunities.

Special Projects & Development

  • Complete assigned projects that support category growth and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate project findings and recommendations.
  • Participate in internship program activities, professional development, and team meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Communications, or a related field with an anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
  • Prior internship, project, or work experience in business, marketing, sales, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be part of a high-performance team.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Ability to research, analyze information, and communicate findings effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new products, systems, and processes, including Salesforce.com and SAP Business One.
