Pay Range: $92,000.00/yr. – $120,000.00/yr. based on experience and qualifications

 

Summary:

The Senior Research & Development Food Scientist serves as a driving force behind Home Market Foods' product development initiatives. This role spans hands-on product formulation and testing, as well as representing the company in key relationships with customers and external development partners. The position helps shapes R&D strategy, guides tactical planning, and fosters skill growth within the team. By collaborating closely with cross-functional partners, this scientist leads the creation of innovative products, and effective solutions to operational challenges. The role is focused on delivering consumer-preferred product designs that surpass client expectations while achieving targeted profitability. As a central voice in customer engagements, this scientist interfaces directly with client product development and technical teams, ensuring that uncompromising standards of product quality and customer service are upheld at every touchpoint.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Drives new product design, formulation and development.

• Ensures product formulations, specifications and implementation meet corporate and client requirements relative to cost, quality and consistency.

• Identifies opportunities to improve process and packaging methods, efficiency and productivity.

• Participates in proving future processes and technologies.

• Supports the sales team by participating on key customer calls to help drive the development and improvement of products.

• Serves as a technical contact and resource for HMF’s clients.

• Assists with the hiring, training and development of technical staff.

• Contributes to new product launches, on-time and with commercial success.

• Provides technical support to the Quality Team as needed.

• Ensures compliance with USDA regulations.

• Performs other duties consistent with position.

 

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelors in Food Science required/Masters preferred.

• Prior experience in food formulation and processing (meat focus desired).

• Strong verbal and written English skills.

• Excellent prioritization and organization skills.

• Solid presentation skills.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office—Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook

 

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure

manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
