Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

London, United Kingdom

At Hudl, we build great teams. We hire the best of the best to ensure you’re working with people you can constantly learn from. You’re trusted to get your work done your way while testing the limits of what’s possible and what’s next. We work hard to provide a culture where everyone feels supported, and our employees feel it—their votes helped us become one of the Top 100 Inspiring Workplaces.

We think of ourselves as the team behind the team, supporting the lifelong impact sports can have: the lessons in teamwork and dedication; the influence of inspiring coaches; and the opportunities to reach new heights. That’s why we help teams from all over the world see their game differently. Our products make it easier for coaches and athletes at any level to capture video, analyze data, share highlights and more.

Ready to join us?

Your Role

We’re hiring a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Core Video & Data team, where quality work supports the platform athletes and coaches rely on to train, compete, and improve. This team builds the systems that power how Hudl understands sport at scale; from identifying players and teams across thousands of leagues to processing the moments that become highlights, stats and analysis, our services sit at the center of Hudl's platform. The systems you build won't support just one product or one sport, they'll become shared capabilities used across Hudl's ecosystem, powering experiences for teams, athletes and fans around the world.

As the Senior QA, you’ll;

  • Shape our quality strategy: You will use your customer and system understanding to build a risk-based testing approach tailored to our video and data platform architecture. You will measure quality to help define when a project is truly complete and prove your improvements with real, data-backed results.
  • Lead quality in your squad: As an integral part of a cross-functional team across Engineering, Product, Design, and Scrum, you will guide quality-focused conversations in sprint ceremonies. You will partner with stakeholders to explain how defects affect users and advocate for the right priority on backlog defects before they enter a sprint.
  • Test at scale and automate: Aligning our processes with development speed, you will make informed decisions on what, how, and when to automate versus when to rely on manual testing. You will lead large testing efforts, bringing your knowledge of our users into every test plan.
  • Coach and elevate the team: You will use your technical and quality expertise to guide others and raise the team's overall bar. As the quality point person, you will influence and challenge teams to incorporate best practices in everything they do.

Location

Time spent collaborating with your teammates in-office will be a regular part of how you work. We're currently considering applicants within commuting distance of London. You'll be expected to work more days in-office than remote, but will have the freedom to coordinate your specific in-office schedule with your team.

Must-Haves

  • Experienced. You have deep full-stack testing experience alongside an in-depth knowledge of automation.
  • Quality leadership. You understand quality in the big picture. You’ve successfully led quality initiatives and projects, and know exactly what success looks like at the project level.
  • User-focused. You think critically about the user experience, making sure our testing approach adapts seamlessly to match user workflows and exceed expectations.
  • Risk-aware. You can design a testing approach that effectively reduces risk, and you bring the sharp attention to detail necessary to catch what others miss.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Playwright Experience: Commercial experience with Playwright is a major plus, as this is one of our core frameworks.
  • A STEM Degree. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is a plus.

Our Role

  • Champion work-life harmony. We’ll give you the flexibility you need in your work life (e.g., flexible vacation time above any required statutory leave, company-wide holidays, remote work options and more) so you can enjoy your personal life too.  Plus, every five years, we give you a paid sabbatical to unplug and recharge.
  • Guarantee autonomy. We have an open, honest culture and we trust our people from day one. Your team will support you, but you’ll own your work and have the agency to try new ideas.
  • Encourage career growth. We’re lifelong learners who encourage professional development. We’ll give you tons of resources and opportunities to keep growing.
  • Provide an environment to help you succeed. We've invested in our offices, designing incredible spaces with our employees in mind. But whether you’re at the office or working remotely, we’ll provide you the tech you need to do your best work.
  • Support your wellbeing. Depending on location, we offer medical and retirement benefits for employees—but no matter where you’re located, we have resources like our Employee Assistance Program and employee resource groups to support your mental health.
