Payroll Specialist

OPPORTUNITY

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure the bi-weekly payroll and related activities are prepared in a timely and accurate manner. This role will also support the HR function through administration and/or management of several HRIS or payroll related processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage payroll processes, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations while maintaining accurate payroll records
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of multi-state payroll for United States
  • Process approved manual checks when necessary for employees
  • Research and troubleshoot UKG system payroll issues
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll journal entries and monthly T&E journal entries for finance department
  • Remain current on statutory or regulatory laws related to payroll and taxes
  • Audit/Analyze/Improve the payroll process
  • Act as company time and attendance administrator
  • Possess working knowledge of company policies (as they relate to payroll and time & attendance) and ensure they are followed
  • Support employees, managers and Human Resources team members on wage and hour laws, compliance, and internal & external policy changes
  • Manage company offboarding process
  • Manage tuition reimbursement and employee referral payout processes

REPORTING STRUCTURE

  • This position reports to the Director of Talent Management

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL CRITERIA

  • Bachelor’s degree in business (or 3 additional years of payroll experience in lieu of a degree) strongly preferred
  • At least 3 years of work experience in payroll processing required
  • HCM and payroll systems experience required; UKG experience a plus
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Word and Excel required; demonstrated payroll software knowledge strongly preferred
  • Possess good analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail, ability to time manage and maintain the ability to work well with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidential documents and information
  • Self-motivated individual that requires minimal supervision
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, good presentation skills, along with the ability to read, write, and speak English
  • This position is fully on-site at Corporate office in Brookfield, WI

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to sit for up to 4 hours at a time.
  • Ability to work on a computer for up to 4 hours at a time
