Digital Experience Developer II

Austin, Texas, United States

ICON is looking for a skilled, detail-obsessed Web Developer to own the technical health, performance, and continuous improvement of iconbuild.com. You'll sit within the Marketing & Customer Experience team, working at the intersection of design, content, and engineering to ensure our website is fast, functional, and always moving forward. This role is equal parts maintenance and momentum. Some days you'll be squashing bugs and fixing layout breaks. Others you'll be building new landing pages, integrating third-party tools, or collaborating with design to bring a new campaign experience to life. You'll be the go-to technical partner for the marketing team, the person who makes ideas buildable and keeps the site running at its best.

This role carries a dotted-line relationship to ICON's Engineering & Software Development team. During slower periods on the web front, you'll roll up your sleeves and contribute to backend support - bug fixes, internal tooling, and software maintenance, making you a true full-stack contributor across both the marketing and engineering orgs. If you care deeply about craft, move quickly without breaking things, and are equally comfortable translating a designer's vision into pixel-perfect code as you are digging into a backend issue with an engineering team, this role is for you.

This is an onsite M-F role out of our Austin, TX headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Site Maintenance & Reliability

  • Own the day-to-day technical health of iconbuild.com — monitoring for bugs, broken links, rendering issues, and performance degradation across browsers and devices.
  • Triage and resolve site issues quickly, with clear communication to stakeholders on status and resolution timelines.
  • Manage CMS updates, plugin/dependency maintenance, and platform upgrades with minimal disruption to the live site.
  • Implement and maintain backup, version control, and staging environment best practices to ensure safe, reliable deployments.

Development & Feature Builds

  • Build and maintain new pages, templates, modules, and interactive features that support marketing campaigns, product launches, and brand initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with design and marketing teams to translate Figma mockups and creative briefs into pixel-accurate, responsive web experiences.
  • Develop and maintain reusable component libraries and front-end systems that scale with the site's growth.
  • Integrate third-party tools and APIs — including CRM platforms, analytics tools, form builders, chat, and marketing automation — and ensure they function reliably.

Performance & Optimization

  • Continuously audit and improve site speed, Core Web Vitals, and overall technical SEO health.
  • Optimize assets (images, scripts, fonts) and implement caching, lazy loading, and other performance best practices.
  • Partner with the SEO and content team to implement on-page technical requirements — structured data, meta tags, canonical URLs, redirects, and site architecture improvements.

Analytics, Tracking & Data Dashboards

  • Implement and maintain a robust tracking infrastructure across iconbuild.com — including Google Tag Manager, GA4, pixel integrations, conversion event tracking, and custom event configurations.
  • Own the setup, QA, and ongoing maintenance of GA4 properties — including data streams, audiences, attribution models, and funnel reporting — ensuring data accuracy across all campaigns and pages.
  • Build and maintain master dashboards that synthesize website data into clear, actionable views for marketing, sales, and leadership — pulling from sources such as GA4, HubSpot, Search Console, paid media platforms, and CRM data.
  • Design dashboard reporting frameworks that surface key metrics including traffic, engagement, lead funnel performance, conversion rates, campaign attribution, and customer journey mapping.

Backend & Engineering Support

  • During downtime from web priorities, contribute directly to ICON's software and engineering team. supporting backend bug fixes, internal tool maintenance, API troubleshooting, and software QA.
  • Assist engineering with code reviews, documentation, and minor feature development as capacity allows.
  • Serve as a reliable bridge between marketing and engineering. We’re looking for someone who understands both worlds and can communicate fluidly across them.
  • Help triage and escalate software issues, translating between technical and non-technical stakeholders as needed.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary technical partner for the marketing team, translating requests, scoping work accurately, and delivering on time.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, contractors, or the broader engineering team as needed on larger initiatives.
  • Document site architecture, code standards, and processes to ensure maintainability and continuity across both marketing and engineering touchpoints.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 or more years of professional web development experience with a strong portfolio of production websites, ideally in a marketing or brand-forward environment.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript with clean, semantic, maintainable code practices.
  • Solid experience with at least one major CMS platform, Webflow preferred, including custom theme and template development.
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as React or Vue, and comfort working within existing codebases.
  • Working knowledge of Node.js, Python, RESTful APIs, SQL or NoSQL databases, and basic server-side architecture.
  • Experience with Git and modern deployment workflows including CI/CD pipelines and staging environments.
  • Working knowledge of Figma sufficient to collaborate directly with design teams and interpret mockups independently.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise with Google Tag Manager including custom triggers, variables, data layer implementation, and cross-domain tracking.
  • Advanced proficiency in GA4 including event configuration, custom dimensions, audience building, attribution modeling, and Looker Studio integration.
  • Proven experience building dashboards that consolidate data from GA4, HubSpot, Search Console, paid media platforms, and CRM into unified reporting views.
  • Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and the ability to apply them as part of standard development practice.
  • Strong communicator who can translate technical constraints for non-technical stakeholders and push back constructively when needed.
  • A proactive ownership mindset - you notice things that are broken before someone tells you, and you fix them.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working within a design system or contributing to one.
  • Basic understanding of paid media landing page best practices and conversion rate optimization.
  • Experience in a startup or high-growth environment where you've had to wear multiple hats.
  • Exposure to A/B testing tools such as Optimizely, VWO, or Google Optimize.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
