Sr. Database Reliability Engineer II
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Sr. Database Reliability Engineer II will be responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrade, administration, monitoring and maintenance of data systems in the company. The role includes the development and design of database strategies, system monitoring and improving performance and capacity, and planning for future expansion requirements. Leads root cause analysis for performance issues, researches and participates in implementation of related new technologies. The Sr. Database Reliability Engineer II will mentor/coach team members including Database Administrators. They may also plan, co-ordinate and implement security measures to safeguard the database.
Job Expectations:
Installing and upgrading the database server and application tools
Allocating system storage and planning future storage requirements for the database system
Developing database queries for applications and programs as needed
Diagnosing database problems and coming up with resolutions
Ensuring compliance with database vendor license agreement
Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database
Planning for backup and recovery of database information
Contacting vendors for technical support
Serves as the subject matter expert on DRE issues, improvements and implementations
Mentors and coaches new and/or less experienced DRE’s on the team
Participate in on-call rotation and incident escalations as necessary

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Required:
Strong knowledge of relational and nosql databases
Strong knowledge of T-SQL and experience with Microsoft SQL Server
Full understanding of database transactions and how they work.
Experience in optimizing query plans
Experience in database security
Experience in working with SQL profiler
Experience in working with high traffic databases
Experience in setting up and managing fail-over clusters
Experience in database mirroring and replications
Experience in AWS (RDS, EC2, S3, IAM etc.)
Experience migrating MSSQL databases to postgresql
Experience in managing infrastructure as code, such as terraform, ansible, etc.
Experience Requirements:
Generally requires a minimum of eight (8) to fifteen (15) years of experience with the Microsoft SQL Server. Experience in working with NOSQL databases would be an advantage.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field required, or equivalent work experience
Master’s Degree preferred
Judgment/Reasoning Ability: Able to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly using sound judgment, poise and diplomacy. Ability to use judgment and reasoning skills, and determine when to escalate issues, as required, in a timely manner.

The anticipated pay scale for this position can be found below, however the pay range applicable to you may vary by geographic location based on where the job is located or where you work. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry, education, etc. iHerb, LLC is a multi-state employer and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations.

Anticipated Pay Scale:
$139,020 - $215,903 USD
