
Production Control Manager
Primary Accountability:
The Production Control Manager is responsible for leading in a way that is representative and supportive of the culture that IMI requires so as to hit department and company metrics and goals. This position requires a leader that respects the members on their team and continuously grows them into being full owners of their job positions, making impactful decisions and continually improving their own area and environment of work without directed help. This leader will bring the best out of their department team, helping them accomplish and personally develop into a world-class team with the other departments of IMI. A world-class team operates safely and with the highest degree of quality, while becoming extremely efficient at their work, controlling costs to be profitable.
The Production Control department is responsible for the issuing and tracking of work to the manufacturing floor through the use of a kanban process, finding and issuing work to outside processors if required, ordering material, and working with customers on job issues. Their team currently consists of two members, one that issues work orders and another that completes the ordering of materials and the outside processing of work. This position will also have direct ownership of job management (project management at the floor level), job issue resolutions, job updates to the customer, and some financial tracking.

General Department Objectives:
- Create and coordinate the paperwork and digital information required to initiate work, starting from the Greenlight of a PO to the completion of the job.
- Order materials and hardware needed for the job and follow the proper processes to assign that cost to the appropriate job.
- Assign work to be done by outside processors and complete the proper steps to get this work completed.
- Provide a safe environment for all team members, improving safe practices as well as engineered solutions in your department while also holding the members accountable for taking safety seriously.
- Understand and drive quality in your department’s process.
- Keep the department area clean, organized, and running properly.
- Understand and control the spending within your department, driving the team to make good business decisions that improve profitability.
- Understand and be able to support any safety programs that apply to the department.
Specific Role Responsibilities:
- Work with Sales, Estimating, Drafting, Manufacturing, Shipping, Finance, Install/Field Services to develop, track, and successfully execute the manufacturing of items for a job in a timely manner with exceptional quality and cost control.
- Work to improve not only the Production Control process, but how it interacts with the manufacturing of items, making the process more efficient and timely.
- Perform quality checks on digital and paper information needed for the proper manufacturing of items.
- Develop and track key metrics of success, coaching and holding the team and others accountable for their success with the intent and manner that grows the member.
- Work with all departments or customers on any issue resolutions that need to occur in order to hit the timelines set.
- Work with Manufacturing, Sales, and Estimating to predict current and proposed capacity levels for the approval of new job work.
- Work to develop and create standardized processes throughout their department and insure that those processes are sustained.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, associate’s degree preferred.
- At least 4 years of experience in the related area is required.
- PM certification or degree is preferred
- Proficient in using basic computer software, calculators, and weight scales. Microsoft Office programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word are most commonly used.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to complete work in a fast-paced, team-oriented work environment.
- Detail oriented and capable of reading complex engineered drawings.
- Be highly adaptable and possess the ability to prioritize and multitask.
Physical Demands:
- Physically mobile with ability to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items on a concrete surface.
- Ability to read paper drawings, computer screens, and email.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to lift up to forty (40) pounds.
- A small amount of climbing stairs may be required.
Work Environment:
- Majority of time will be spent in the office, but some will be on the floor.
- The shop floor is NOT climate controlled. It is dusty, sometimes confined, and possesses constant trip hazards.
- Interaction with team members and clients in both remote and on-site locations.
Work Hours:
- This is an exempt position, however timeliness of work is critical to the success of this position.
- As the owner of the daily huddle, it is required that this member be prepared, setup, and ready for this meeting at 8:00 a.m.
- Overtime may be needed when workload and/or timelines require
- Weekend work may be required when workload requires
- Flexible schedules and working from home can be approved by the direct leader/manager if it is not unreasonable and doesn’t impact the success of the company.
