
Lead Designer
Insomniac Games is looking for a Lead Designer. In this role, the Lead Designer is responsible for leading a team of designers to execute on a single project or area of focus. With the Design Manager, responsible for the well-being of team members and performing high quality people management, while providing a critical component of the studio's mission to create games that have a positive and lasting impact on people's lives by helping foster an environment of craft excellence, collaboration, and positivity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises direct reports on Design team and participates in strategy and decision making as a member of the department's leadership group.
- Meets regularly with team members to offer guidance, provide constructive feedback, conduct performance assessments, facilitate the team’s best work, and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Assists Director of Design Management with project staffing, hiring, and onboarding.
- Evaluates team members’ goals and objectives and ensures that department goals are being met.
- Manages career growth and development of direct reports, along with Design Manager
- Facilitates team training via internal and external sources as well as providing mentoring on an individual basis.
- Collaborates with Department Head and Leads to develop, refine, and document best practices.
- Regularly plays game/s in development and reviews content to provide feedback and help identify opportunities for craft development.
- Builds and maintains relationships with peers and other senior leaders to align project and departmental priorities.
- Advocates for studio cultural values and fosters an environment of craft excellence, collaboration, and inclusion.
- Ensures that all complaints and concerns related to inappropriate or unprofessional conduct in the workplace are addressed immediately to foster a safe work environment
- Other duties may be assigned.

- Directly supervises a small design team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Must be flexible with schedule changes and shifting timetables. Needs to be able to work independently and efficiently. Ability to multitask several time intensive tasks at once. At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Base pay is one component of our total compensation package. Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location, as well as additional compensation components, such as annual bonus, profit sharing, and other incentive plans.
