Director, Project Management

Insomniac Games is looking for a Director, Project Management. In this role, the Director, Project Management will be responsible for building, leading and mentoring a world-class Project Management Department to achieve Insomniac's vision of Best Developer.  Ensures excellent on time in budget deliveries through strategic planning, team leadership, and collaboration with Studio Leaders, Project Leaders, and Project Managers. Possesses a deep level of game production knowledge and project management expertise to provide actionable direction on Project Managers output of work, quality, and timelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for ensuring project quality, studio sustainability and the well-being of team members.
  • Responsible for the creation, enforcement, and modification of macro development schedules, in conjunction with Project Directors and Project Managers.
  • Anticipates schedule and budget overruns and initiates actions to resolve them.
  • Plays games in development to ensure that we are achieving our operational goals and meeting our quality standards.
  • Provides budgeting for the Project Management department in conjunction with Finance.
  • Evaluates and implements staffing strategies to meet the needs of each project.
  • Directs the professional development of all project management employees.
  • Advocates for studio cultural values and fosters an environment of craft excellence, collaboration, and inclusion.
  • Develops strategies to improve studio efficiency and quality.
  • Develops collaborative relationships across all departments.
  • Ensures organizational cohesiveness toward project objectives in conjunction with production leadership.
  • Ensures that all complaints and concerns related to inappropriate or unprofessional conduct in the workplace are addressed immediately to foster a safe work environment

  • Directly supervises Project Managers and indirectly supervises the Project Management department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. 
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Experience navigating multiple simultaneous projects
  • Creative collaboration and problem solving across all Insomniac departments
  • Effective time management, with the ability to delegate tasks and focus on larger issues while monitoring critical smaller details
  • Detailed knowledge of all game production methods
  • A strong critical eye for detail and the ability to communicate effectively with the team to resolve issues
  • Communication with both large groups and individuals, with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Deadline-oriented approach, with the ability to get results even in difficult situations

Computer Skills

  • Intermediate computer skills to access and employ Insomniac proprietary software, MS office software, project-specific tracking software, and publisher required software.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location. 

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

This is a flexible role that can be remote, with varying pay ranges based on geographic location. For example, if you are based out of Seattle, the estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
