Associate Director, IT – Waltham MA preferred or Remote

Position summary:

The Associate Director, IT is a hands-on role responsible for managing and maintaining Invivyd’s IT cloud-based technology infrastructure and administration of Invivyd’s key software, applications and networking framework.  The Associate Director, IT will work closely with business groups and vendors to provide technical architecture and design leadership in supporting company initiatives.  The Associate Director, IT will be responsible for ensuring that critical cloud applications are well designed and optimized for reliability, high availability, and in a secure manner.

The Associate Director, IT will be deeply involved in day-to-day operations while contributing to the strategic IT planning, vendor selection, and project execution, preferably in the life sciences industry.

Responsibilities:  

  • Manage Invivyd's cloud-based systems, security solutions and processes, including setting up application integrations with external parties in a secure and compliant manner.
  • Directly manage, maintain and configure our Microsoft 365 tenant, including user accounts, email, SharePoint, Teams, security groups, and tenant administration.
  • Design and architect new systems and systems integrations.
  • Maintain Invivyd’s networking infrastructure, including firewalls, network switches, wireless access points, VPN.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability).
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert to the company’s business units for Invivyd’s applications and systems.
  • Demonstrate leadership ability to back decisions with research and the “why,” and articulate several options, the pros and cons for each, and recommendations.
  • Maintain overall industry knowledge on latest trends, technology, threat landscape and best practices.
  • Develop solutions architecture and evaluate architectural alternatives for private, public and hybrid cloud models, including IaaS, PaaS, and other cloud services.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience administering a Microsoft 365 tenant, users and groups, including external and guest users, enterprise applications, SSO integrations, Intune and endpoint management, and Microsoft Office.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience designing, governing, and troubleshooting all aspects of Microsoft Azure, Azure AD, Azure storage and compute services in a mission critical enterprise environment.
  • Mid/Senior level experience integrating applications with and utilizing SSO, SAML, OIDC, OAuth, MFA, Federation, PAM.
  • Expertise with best practices in security frameworks, such as NIST, ISO27001, GDPR.
  • Expertise and solid, real-world experience in security processes, including Identity and Access Management, SIEM, vulnerability management, security prevention, detection and response.
  • Ability to triage issues, coordinate and escalate with SaaS partners to resolve problems and support the business users in a timely manner.
  • Ability to mentor and train IT staff on best practices
  • Willing to work both remotely and onsite as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on IT systems commonly used in the life sciences industry, such as GxP systems.
  • Experience or eagerness to learn administration of Fortinet firewall and switches.
  • Experience providing user guidance, training, documentation, and excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple complex projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Industry certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator, 365 Certified, CCNA, CISSP.
  • At least 8+ years of solid IT experience.
