Senior Software Engineer
About the Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer with a strong background in physics, particularly in optics or photonics, to design and develop software tools that enable the design, simulation, and modeling of complex 3D optical systems. You will play a critical role in bridging physics, computation, and fabrication by developing software that powers the design, analysis, and optimization of our advanced optical components.
What You’ll Do
- Enable the transition from lab scale to small scale volume production.
- Refine and streamline existing design, simulation, and lithography software.
- Provide software solutions for our ultra-fast lithography systems.
- Architect and optimize the company’s software systems, from design through quality control.
- Build an in-house design, simulation, and printing app that is used in our standard workflow.
- Build a customer-facing design and simulation tool.
- Create our initial end-to-end pipeline for evolutionary design of components.
What You’ll Bring
- Proven experience developing scientific or engineering software, with a focus on physics-based simulations.
- Expertise in programming languages such as Python or C++, with an emphasis on numerical computing and algorithm development.
- Familiarity with optical modeling tools and techniques, such as FDTD, ray tracing, beam propagation methods, or similar is a plus.
- Experience with computational geometry or 3D modeling is a plus.
- Strong background in optics, photonics, or related physics disciplines is a plus.
- Knowledge of parallel computing and performance optimization for simulation tools is highly desirable.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with scientists and engineers.
