As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of our Japan office, including accounting, financial reporting and tax compliance. You will also partner closely with the General Manager (GM) and agency team based in Japan, as well as the regional team based in Singapore, to provide insights and/or advice to facilitate business decision-making as we continue to expand our operations in Japan. 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting

• Manage the month-end and year-end close process, partnering with the outsourced accounting service provider (OASP) to ensure accurate and timely delivery of monthly financials in accordance with relevant accounting standards
• Review the schedules and deliverables prepared by OASP, ensuring completeness and accuracy
• Prepare monthly management and financial reports, variance analysis and reporting schedules, including any deliverables not within the scope of OASP

Budgeting & Financial Analysis

• Support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
• Provide financial insights and analysis to support management decisions
• Track revenue progress against targets for weekly WIP meetings

Operations Partnership 

• Support the GM and agency team in the day-to-day operational and commercial matters and provide general financial support, analysis and advice
• Work closely with the GM and agency team on the end-to-end project life cycle from set-up to billing and reconciliation, and ensure jobs are closed on a timely basis
• Manage working capital to ensure cash flow efficiency across projects, and monitor project profitability

Compliance & Audit

• Support statutory and regulatory compliance, including annual audits, consumption tax return filings, corporate tax return filings, etc.
• Liaise with auditors and tax advisors and manage submission timelines

Others

• Identify opportunities to streamline financial workflows & support process improvement workstreams
• Ad-hoc tasks and duties as required
• 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience
• Degree in Finance/Accounting and a Chartered Accountant
• Fluent in both Japanese and English
• Strong accounting knowledge, and experience with statutory and tax filings
• Proactive, detail oriented and able to work independently 
• Ability to collaborate effectively with both local and overseas stakeholders 
• Experience working in a multinational environment and managing outsourced accounting service providers
