Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Human Resources Business Partner to join our team, helping connect our people strategy with our broader business goals. Based in New York City, this role serves as the primary HR resource for our New York metropolitan region, providing end-to-end HR support across our NYC and NJ offices while remaining closely connected to our larger HR team. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role partners directly with business leaders to drive organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, employee engagement, and business performance while helping shape a strong workplace culture.
Responsibilities
- Drive strategic people initiatives that align with business objectives and support organizational growth.
- Act as a trusted strategic partner and change agent, providing thoughtful advice and coaching to managers and key stakeholders.
- Conduct regular meetings with managers to provide HR guidance, address people-related challenges, and support organizational effectiveness.
- Partner closely with field teams by making regular visits to active construction sites, engaging directly with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field staff.
- Lead the local implementation of performance management programs, including annual performance reviews, in partnership with leadership.
- Coach leaders on performance management, talent development, leadership effectiveness, organizational change, and workforce planning to build high-performing teams.
- Guide the development and rollout of HR processes and policies.
- Lead complex employee relations matters, providing coaching to leaders, conducting investigations as needed, mitigating organizational risk, and ensuring consistent application of company policies and employment practices.
- Facilitate new employees onboarding locally, in coordination with other JRM offices.
- Collaborate with the broader HR team to implement innovative people programs, including reward and recognition initiatives that drive engagement and results.
- Partner with people-centered functions, including Learning and Talent Development and Talent Acquisition, to deliver integrated HR support across the business
- Leverage workforce data and trends to identify opportunities, provide actionable recommendations, and influence business decisions related to talent, engagement, and retention.
- Lead and support organizational change initiatives, helping leaders navigate change through thoughtful communication, coaching, and employee engagement strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred
- 7+ years of progressive Human Resources Business Partner experience, with demonstrated success partnering with business leaders in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) industry is a plus
- Comfortable visiting active construction sites on a regular basis to engage directly with field teams
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to influence leaders, navigate complex employee relations matters, and build trusted partnerships across all levels of the organization.
- Strong business acumen with sound judgment, executive presence, and the ability to operate independently while collaborating effectively with HR and business leadership.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer service mindset and a professional, approachable demeanor.
Salary Information
- To the extent this role is performed in New York City, the annual salary range is $140,000 - $180,000.
