Job Overview
Kardigan is seeking a Director of Healthcare Professional (HCP) Marketing to lead our efforts in creating and executing strategic marketing initiatives aimed at engaging HCPs and advancing the adoption of our novel therapies. As a key member of the marketing leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping overall brand strategies, developing markets ahead of commercialization and executing against HCP promotional marketing plans to ensure the successful launch and growth of our products.
The Director of HCP Marketing will work closely with multiple teams, including Commercial, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, R&D, Portfolio Strategy, and Program Management to develop compelling, evidence-based marketing campaigns that are designed to resonate with HCPs, build brand awareness, and support product uptake. You will also be responsible for providing leadership and mentorship to a growing team, driving performance, and championing a patient-centric, collaborative, and data-driven approach to marketing. The position is based in South San Francisco, CA. The role reports to the VP Marketing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of HCP marketing strategy for multiple cardiovascular therapeutic programs, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, product lifecycle, and market dynamics
- Leverage primary and secondary research to develop clear, actionable insights that accurately inform key drivers and barriers
- Engage with the HCP community to understand challenges and opportunities, distil critical insights, and influence perceptions
- Lead efforts to define the HCP customer journey, ensuring effective touchpoints across multiple channels (digital, field, congresses, advisory boards, etc.)
- Work cross functionally to ensure integrated brand strategies that include market access, field leadership, medical affairs, and communications
- Translate brand strategies into effective tactical plans for HCPs and care teams
- Lead the execution, measurement, and enhancement of HCP disease education campaign efforts
- Work with senior leadership and brand teams to define the strategic positioning and value proposition for the company’s products, ensuring that HCP-facing materials and campaigns clearly communicate the therapeutic benefits and scientific evidence in a compelling way
- Work with external agencies to execute promotional strategy and tactics through personal and non-personal channels, while ensuring external partners remain on-time and on-budget
- Collaborate with internal Medical, Legal and Regulatory partners to deliver compelling and effective brand campaigns for the target HCPs and related care teams
Qualifications and Preferred Skills
- Typically requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years marketing, consulting or agency experience in healthcare/biopharmaceuticals, and 3+ years of supervisory/management experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Proven success in developing and executing HCP-focused marketing strategies in the U.S. or globally that drive brand awareness and product adoption
- Product launch experience is required
- Cardiology experience a plus, including in areas such as heart failure, hypertension, cardiomyopathy, and PAH
- Hospital sales and marketing experience a plus
- An entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, with an ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems
- Exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to inspire and develop teams. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, special capability for global analysis and long-term vision
- Business acumen and ability to work in a matrix environment including effective management of priority conflicts
- Leadership: Experience leading and motivating teams in a matrix environment is required. Proven interpersonal skills with ability to influence, resolve conflict and drive decisions among internal cross functional teams, executive management, and external teams.
- Collaboration: Ability to effectively collaborate in and across multiple functions, and with internal and external stakeholders of various backgrounds and skill sets. Skilled in establishing a collaborative and respectful environment.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences
- Industry Knowledge: Extensive healthcare industry knowledge (i.e., managed care, patient, provider, pharma company, pharma / biotech technology, and disease area trends)
- Strategic and Analytical: Strong strategic and analytical thinking with the ability to synthesize market data, customer insights, and scientific information into actionable marketing plans
- Business Excellence: Strong project and process management skills including the ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines
- Critical Thinking: Strong critical thinking and structured, problem-solving skills
- Agility: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a complex, rapidly changing environment
