YOU WILL

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Assistant to join our team. The Payroll Assistant will be responsible for assisting with accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role is key in maintaining data integrity and providing excellent service to employees.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Help prepare semi-monthly payroll data including garnishments, HSA contributions, and 401(k) deductions.
  • Review timecards for completeness and accuracy and contact various department supervisors / employees for missed time.
  • Assist with compiling any payroll changes affecting net wages such as bonuses, tax changes, applicable deductions, etc.
  • Help prepare and audit periodic reports related to payroll income and unemployment taxes and work with the state agencies for any discrepancies
  • Maintain essential payroll records and internal audit trackers
  • Receives, enters, and audits any garnishments, child support, or levies
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns.
  • Coordinate with HR and accounting departments to ensure payroll changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, raises) are accurately reflected.

THE SKILLS REQUIRED

  • High school diploma (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll or related administrative function.
  • Proficiency with Dayforce HRIS system and MS Office (especially Excel).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Some knowledge of payroll laws and tax regulations
  • Multistate payroll experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Accounting background a plus
  • FPP Certification a plus
