Marketing operation manager

Bengaluru

[About the role]

We are looking for an experienced Product Manager to lead the development and optimization of next-generation payment products with a strong focus on UPI and AI-driven payment experiences. In this role, you will own the end-to-end product lifecycle, working at the intersection of technology, data, compliance, and business to deliver seamless, reliable, and intelligent payment solutions.

[Key Responsibilities]

  • Own the UPI product roadmap: P2P, P2M, QR payments, VPA management, mandate/autopay, and UPI Lite. Drive the TPAP application process, NPCI compliance requirements, and PSP/TSP coordination.
  • Improve payment success rates systematically. Analyze failure patterns by error code (U30, U16, U31, etc.), bank, and instrument type. Build intelligent retry logic and routing strategies to reduce drop-offs.
  • Apply AI/ML to payments: fraud and risk scoring on transactions in real time, smart payment routing based on historical success rates, anomaly detection for settlement and reconciliation gaps, and predictive models for transaction failure prevention.
  • Design AI-powered user experiences in the payments layer: intelligent defaults (preferred payment method, auto-suggest VPA), personalized cashback offers based on spending patterns, and proactive nudges for failed or pending transactions.
  • Own the fraud and risk framework for payments. Define rules, thresholds, and escalation workflows. Work with data and engineering to evolve from rule-based detection to ML-driven scoring.
  • Drive payment health monitoring and ops tooling. Build dashboards and alerts for success rates, latency, settlement status, and refund processing. Reduce manual intervention through automation.
  • Manage payment gateway and partner relationships (PSP, TSP, NPCI). Own escalations, SLA tracking, and integration roadmaps.

[Required Experience]

  • 4+ years as a Product Manager with hands-on experience building UPI products (TPAP, PSP, or payment gateway side). You understand the NPCI ecosystem, UPI error handling, settlement flows, and compliance requirements
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML applications in payments: fraud scoring, transaction routing, anomaly detection, or personalization. You don’t need to build models, but you need to spec them, evaluate them, and push for the right tradeoffs between precision and recall.
  • Experience optimizing payment success rates through data analysis, failure pattern identification, and systematic fixes across banks, instruments, and error categories.
  • Ability to work across technical and business domains. You’re equally comfortable in an API spec review, a compliance discussion, and a business metrics review.
  • Strong analytical skills. SQL proficiency, comfort with dashboards and funnel data, and the ability to translate transaction-level data into product decisions.
  • Track record of shipping consumer-facing payment features on mobile. You’ve dealt with the UX complexity of payment state management and designed for trust.
  • Experience with other fintech products: wallets, lending, credit cards, insurance, or BNPL. Breadth across financial products helps you see the full ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with BBPS, UPI Lite, UPI mandate, or cross-border payment rails.
  • Experience working with NPCI directly on TPAP applications, certifications, or exemptions.
  • Background in building or integrating AI-powered chatbots, support automation, or LLM-based tooling within a fintech context.
