The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis and Systems

Reporting to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, the Manager Financial Planning & Analysis and Systems will serve a critical role coordinating budgeting and management reporting across multiple stakeholder groups while also providing key leadership and support in LA28’s financial systems.

Drive and assist with the organization’s financial operations, including planning and forecasting, preparing periodic variance analyses, and developing and delivering stakeholder reporting.

Oversee business processes and functionality of key systems supporting finance

Manage and optimize management reporting in support of all LA28 departments.

Define, develop, create and review financial models and scenario analysis to support swift decision making in support of the organization.

Analyze key business drivers impacting operating performance for forecasts, annual budgets, and strategic plans.

Maintain an in-depth understanding of relevant revenue and expense areas and analyze the KPI’s / key drivers for each to be able to identify efficiencies and provide recommendations to improve results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive processes for the preparation of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts in addition to owning ongoing maintenance of long-term financial plan in support of Technology, External Affairs, Legal, Finance and Human Resources departments. Collaboratively drive processes, engaging with relevant business stakeholders.
  • In support of management, develop a detailed understanding of all relevant contractual agreements/financial commitments, maintaining a proactive outlook of the financial impacts of these agreements. Partner with relevant functional areas in the development of contracts, providing relevant financial input.
  • Prepare and manage periodic (e.g. monthly) analyses of actual results vs. annual budget and/or forecast, providing insight into both the source (‘what’) and nature (‘why’) of variances, with a viewpoint on anticipated future impact. Partner with business stakeholders to collaboratively assess results.
  • Drive the ongoing maintenance of lifetime financial plan for relevant areas through detailed knowledge of underlying models and coordination with operational owners to ensure that long-term plan values provide the most accurate future viewpoint possible.
  • Develop, build and maintain new financial models associated with areas of responsibility, coordinating closely with operational stakeholders.
  • Develop executive level presentations relevant to assigned areas of responsibility
  • Oversee and support financial systems and reporting, working collaboratively with Finance and Technology stakeholders to ensure optimal use of systems and reporting capabilities while ensuring integrity of underlying data.
  • Fully leverage LA28’s portfolio of tools/systems to provide critical financial and operational reports and recommend actionable improvements to ensure the integrity of the company’s financial information, systems, operations, and strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement on a continual basis.
  • Prepare and deliver ad hoc projects and analyses as directed by leadership.

Background & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in financial analysis, reporting and process management with excellent references.
  • Minimum of 5+years of professional FP&A experience
  • Experience with large scale ERP systems and reporting tools, preferably Workday
  • Hands-on experience with creating and building complex financial models
  • Strong analytical skills including financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Must possess expert-level Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office application skills.
  • Must have solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB)

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Will be required to be in the office up to 4-5 days per week in an open office setting
  • Sitting/Standing: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
  • Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in typing and using office equipment, including computers, printers, and phones.

  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and handle and manage multiple workloads, priorities, and deadlines with efficiency.
  • Possess personal drive to start a project, maintain a sense of ownership and see it through to completion.
  • Work with key stakeholders in the strategic planning process and provide appropriate and timely reporting of results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work with individuals at all levels in the organization and strong relationship building abilities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical issues to non-technical people.

Education/Training/Certifications

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, economics, accounting, or related field
  • MBA preferred

The annual base salary range for this position is $85,000 to 105,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
