The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Head of Real Estate Acquisition:
The Logistics department is responsible for effectively and efficiently providing materials management and logistics support to all LA28 functions. The Head of Real Estate Acquisition is responsible for overseeing the temporary acquisition of real estate properties needed for the planning and execution of the 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. This role will report to the Senior Director, Logistics.
Key Responsibilities:
Vendor Sourcing
- Build RFP strategies to select an embedded Real Estate Broker(s) for the LA28 family
- Assist with researching and identifying prospective brokers
- Produce an evaluation assessment to rate RFP participants
- Lead in vendor selection and onboarding
- In partnership with the embedded broker, form the Real Estate Acquisition sub-department responsible for acquiring temporary commercial real estate properties
Quantification / Discovery
- Work directly with LA28 Functional Areas to understand and identify real estate requirements for all competition and non-competition venues across the Games footprint
- Liaising directly with Functional Areas to refine and optimize requirements to fit budgetary restraints
- Develop a thorough understanding of how Games execution requirements drive real estate needs to develop acquisition courses of action that support the Games delivery
- Update and monitor the real estate
Site Selection
- Assess and manage real estate risks, market trends, and potential growth opportunities to maximize portfolio value.
- Conduct market research using electronic sources and / or in-person scouting to identify acquisition targets aligned with LA28 needs
- Oversee site selection, property acquisitions, lease negotiations, and space optimization to ensure efficient and cost-effective use of real estate assets
- Serve as the primary contact for contractual questions
- Implement new customer / tenant relations policies or procedures to ensure the highest level of current and future satisfaction
Financial Management
- Identify potential opportunities for cost savings through efficient space utilization, vendor negotiation, and resource optimization
- Work closely with Finance to oversee financial transactions acquiring properties aligns with LA28 objectives
Administration
- Update the Real Estate Tracking document, accordingly
- Prepare presentations to show status of Real Estate program
- Provide audit operations over the embedded broker transactions
- Conducts regular status and strategy meetings with Functional Areas and embedded broker to better understand needs
Background & Qualifications:
- 7 – 10 years’ experience in end-to-end Commercial Real Estate portfolio management. Experience in the Los Angeles, CA market a strong plus
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Facilities Management, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree preferred, but not required
- Possession of a CA Real Estate Broker’s License
- Extensive knowledge of short-term real estate, facilities management project management, and best practices
- Experience managing large and diverse property portfolios, with strong capabilities in lease negotiation, property acquisitions, and financial analysis
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire cross-functional teams, influence stakeholders, and drive organizational change at the enterprise level
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
- Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent analytical skills: ability to make decisions both independently and within a team environment
- Strong IT skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- A team player with a strong customer service focus with and a desire to go the extra mile
- Demonstrate ability in upward / downward communication
- Competence to present and clearly communicate to audiences in a multitude of public / private settings, as required
- Willing to work on complex, tight, immovable timelines while maintaining a positive attitude, exhibiting patience, persistence
- Experience working in a multi-cultural, multi-national environment

Position Requirements:
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Expectation to work in LA28 offices in Los Angeles minimum 4x week
- Primarily office-based with extended periods of sitting, working on a computer, and attending virtual or in-person meetings
- Ability to travel frequently within the Los Angeles Region to visit potential and secured real estate sites
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Facilities Management, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred, but not required.
- Possession of a CA Real Estate Broker’s License

The annual base salary range for this position is $115,000.00 - $130,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
