The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

The LA28 organizing committee is an independent, non-profit organization that is privately funded and governed by a board of directors.

Manager, Tendering & Vendor Management - Cleaning & Waste:

Reporting to the Head of Cleaning and Waste the Manager of Tendering and Vendor Management – Cleaning & Waste will lead the end-to-end procurement, tendering, and contract management processes for cleaning, waste collection, recycling, and disposal services across all Games venues. This role ensures delivery of world-class venue operations that meet sustainability, health, and safety standards while supporting the Games’ waste diversion

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the procurement, evaluation, and management of contracts for cleaning, janitorial, and waste management vendors across all competition and non-competition venues. 
  • Support the development of detailed scopes of work, service levels, and performance standards for venue cleaning, waste, recycling, and composting operations. 
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and venue planning teams to define waste stream requirements and cleaner service levels. 
  • Work with city officials, waste management authorities, and sustainability experts to optimize waste collection, hauling, and disposal systems aligned with city and Games sustainability objectives. 
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure service quality, performance tracking, and contractual compliance. 
  • Coordinate bin planning, cleaning supplies, consumables, and material requirements across venues. 
  • Support development of operational budgets and ensure efficient financial management of cleaning and waste contracts. 
  • Collaborate with Sustainability and Legacy teams to align on waste diversion strategies and environmental reporting metrics. 
  • Ensure all tendering and procurement processes meet organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and sustainability principles.  
  • Identify opportunities for external partnership and collaboration to lower costs and meet sustainability goals.

 

Background & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience managing large-scale cleaning and/or waste management procurement in sports, events, or venue environments. 
  • Proven experience leading large scale projects working with external vendors in a high-pressure environment. 
  • Experience with Olympic, Paralympic or major event operations ideal. 
  • Experience working with cleaning and waste vendors in LA/surrounding regions preferred.  

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

  • Ability to work on-site in Los Angeles, CA.  
  • Most work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.  
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment

 

Position Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year accredited university or college or equivalent work experience. 
  • Environmental Science, Sustainability, Logistics or Public Works degrees are preferred, but not required. 

Expectations:

  • Strong knowledge of sustainability practices, recycling, and waste diversion strategies. 
  • Experience managing procurement cycles, negotiating and managing contracts. 
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills. 
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering operational excellence and sustainable outcomes.

The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000.00 - $115,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
