Manager, People Operations:

The Manager, People Operations plays a pivotal role in ensuring the organization’s people systems, data, and processes operate with accuracy, efficiency, and scalability. As the primary Workday HCM system owner, this role is responsible for maintaining data integrity, optimizing workflows, and ensuring all integrations function effectively across the employee lifecycle. 

Working closely with our Centers of Excellence and cross-functional partners, the Manager proactively identifies and implements system updates, enhancements, and process improvements. This individual serves as the key point of coordination for Workday-related issues and enhancements—partnering with internal teams, vendors, and technical experts to seek out solutions, improve functionality, and scale the organization’s People infrastructure. 

This role reports to the Head of People Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Workday HCM Management & Governance 

  • Serve as the primary operational owner for Workday HCM, ensuring accurate configuration, data integrity, and system efficiency. 
  • Partner with HR COEs (Total Rewards, Talent, Recruiting) to ensure Workday supports new or evolving programs and business needs. 
  • Act as the liaison between People Management, IT, and external Workday partners to address configuration updates, testing, and system releases. 
  • Monitor and troubleshoot integrations to ensure seamless data flow.  

Manage benefits-related system configurations (e.g., eligibility rules, enrollment windows, open enrollment testing, and year-end processing). 

  • Maintain clear documentation of system processes 
  • Track and prioritize system enhancements and coordinate implementation with internal stakeholders and vendors. 
  • Support change management and communication related to new processes or system enhancements. 
  • Help design and maintain training and reference materials to promote user adoption and self-service across the organization. 

Operational Excellence & Process Improvement 

  • Oversee employee lifecycle operations (onboarding, job changes, terminations) ensuring timely, compliant, and accurate execution.  
  • Act as escalation point for all Workday-related inquiries, integrations, and data issues across the employee lifecycle 
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate manual processes, reduce data entry errors, and enhance the employee and manager experience. 
  • Partner with HR Business Partners to operationalize people programs, including compensation, performance, and engagement cycles. 
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support consistent, scalable execution across the People team. 

Data, Reporting & Compliance 

  • Manage regular data audits to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance across all HR systems. 
  • Build and maintain a suite of standard Workday reports and dashboards to support leadership decision-making. 
  • Support workforce planning reporting to inform organizational planning and analytics 

Background & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive HR or People Operations experience, with 3+ years of Workday HCM exposure or administration. 
  • Experience coordinating system updates, data audits, and cross-functional workflows. 
  • Experience with Workday HCM. 
  • Background in supporting integrations and vendor coordination between HR systems. 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • The position is in Los Angeles with in-person attendance required. 
  • The majority of work may be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment   
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment. 

Education:

  • HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) or Workday certification preferred. 

Expectations:

  • Ability to translate business needs into system or process requirements. 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; comfortable managing multiple priorities. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with a proactive, solutions-driven approach. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, scaling organization with evolving structures and needs. 
  • Strong understanding of HR operations and lifecycle processes (onboarding, job changes, offboarding). 
  • Systems Thinker that connects processes, tools, and data to build scalable infrastructure. 
  • Works effectively across HR, Finance, Tech, and external vendors. 
  • Mindset for continuous improvement, seeks opportunities to simplify and enhance how work gets done

The annual base salary range for this position is $85,000-$115,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
