LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The 2028 Games mark the return of the Summer Games to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years and Los Angeles’ third time hosting an Olympic Games and first time welcoming the Paralympic Games. Finance Manager, Commercial:

The Finance Manager, Commercial plays a key role in driving and supporting the organization’s financial operations, including planning and forecasting, monthly close, and stakeholder reporting. This role is responsible for developing and reviewing financial models and scenario analyses to enable timely, data-driven decision-making. The Manager will analyze key business drivers impacting operating performance across forecasts, the annual operating plan (AOP), and long-term strategic plans. They will maintain a deep understanding of commercial revenue and expense areas, evaluating KPIs and key drivers to identify efficiencies and provide recommendations to optimize results. Additionally, this position will support the review of overall LA28/USOPP financial results, delivering consolidated analyses and key performance metrics to senior leadership.  

The Finance Manager, Commercial reports to the Senior Director, Finance.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Senior Director, Finance, with annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process in addition to annual long-term strategic plan in support of commercial operations. 
  • Work closely with the Senior Director, Finance, and Commercial team leads to understand sponsorship agreements, utilization of activation funds, and licensing agreements and provide monthly reporting of actuals to budgeted revenue. 
  • Assist with the month-end close of the commercial business books, as needed, including posting accruals and preparing detailed account reconciliations for assigned accounts. 
  • Oversee the licensee royalty reporting process, including analyzing royalty reporting against licensing agreement terms, recording earned royalties, and creating invoices 
  • Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance by tracking risks and opportunities. 
  • Ensure credibility of Finance group by providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial trends, and cash forecasts.   

 

Background & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in financial analysis, reporting and process management with excellent references. 
  • Minimum of 5+years of professional FP&A experience
  • Hands-on experience with creating and building complex financial models
  • Strong analytical skills including financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Experience with large scale ERP systems preferred
  • Must possess expert-level Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office application skills.
  • Must have solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Ability to work on-site in an open office environment, based in Los Angeles, CA .  
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.  
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods.  
  • Sitting/Standing: Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.  
  • Manual Dexterity: Proficiency in typing and using office equipment, including computers, printers, and phones. 

 Expectations

  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and handle and manage multiple workloads, priorities, and deadlines with efficiency.
  • Possess personal drive to start a project, maintain a sense of ownership and see it through to completion.
  • Work with key stakeholders in the strategic planning process and provide appropriate and timely reporting of results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work with individuals at all levels in the organization and strong relationship building abilities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical issues to non-technical people.

Position Requirements:

Education:

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, economics, accounting, related field, or equivalent work experience
  • MBA preferred

The annual base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $115,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.

LA28 does not provide relocation assistance.
