Senior Cloud Engineer (Security Focus)

The Role
The Cloud Platform Team ensures that all of our systems are reliable, secure and meet their uptime targets. Much of our work focuses on optimizing existing systems, building new components and automating manual processes. As part of the Cloud Platform Team you'll have the opportunity to manage our cloud infrastructure, design, build and run distributed, fault tolerant systems, and improve and automate existing processes.
We believe in security by design and follow a paved road philosophy by building or buying tools that we can integrate into our platform to level-up our security posture. Security is everyone’s responsibility, but security engineering is how we make it possible for engineers to ship high quality code to production several times per day with security baked in.
By focusing on both scalability and security, the Cloud Platform Team enables League to deliver a secure and dependable experience for our users.
You will:
- Lead technical design of major system components, improve availability, security and scalability of the platform and its services
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement security controls and measures to protect against data loss, unauthorized access, and other security threats
- Uphold quality standards by performing code reviews, fixing bugs, creating automated tests, and monitoring performance
- Build, manage, and improve security capabilities to improve League’s security posture
- Develop and maintain tooling following Infrastructure as Code practices
- Mentor other team members on design techniques and coding standards
- Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation
About you:
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience with Cloud Providers - GCP preferred
- Experience with configuration management/infrastructure as code tools - Terraform preferred
- Experience with container orchestration systems - Kubernetes preferred
- Experience implementing Cloud security best practices
- Experience administering Cloud security tools including CSPM and CWPP
- Experience with container hardening
- Familiarity with common security threats and vulnerabilities, including knowledge of mitigation strategies
- You know how to write high-quality and testable code in Python, Go, or other languages
- Experience working with automation in critical production environments, ensuring their reliability
- Experience with Linux operating systems internals: capabilities, filesystems, networking, etc
- Experience with Continuous Integration/Deployment (CI/CD) and release orchestration
- Experience analyzing and troubleshooting distributed systems
- Experience with SQL/NoSQL Databases
- Certifications such as GCP Professional Cloud Security Engineer, AWS Certified Specialty - Security, or CCSP are beneficial

- Compliance with Information Security Policies
- Compliance with League’s secure coding practice
- Responsibility and accountability for executing League's policies and procedures
- Notification of HR, Legal, Compliance & Security of any incidents, breaches or policy violations

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for base salaries for the position across all Canadian locations. Where in the band you may land is determined by job-related skills/experience. $125,800 - $160,000 CAD
