A Day in the Life:

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will apply statistical techniques and machine learning to empower our product in the domain of health, wellness, and care navigation. You will work as part of a small multi-disciplinary team to build and deploy machine learning / artificial intelligence models to production, and integrate them into the League backend.

To thrive in this role, you are someone who works well in cross-functional teams and enjoys collaborating. Furthermore, you understand the business impact of your work and enjoy measuring and presenting it. You enjoy working with product management and other stakeholders to find the best solution to the problem at hand, and then continue to iterate on it. You can balance technical complexity with delivering customer value in a timely fashion. You are comfortable with the end-to-end machine learning product lifecycle, and can work on any part of the stack - from infrastructure, to data, to backend, to frontend.

Our data pipelines are built with Airflow, Python, and BigQuery SQL. Our ML pipelines are built using Kubeflow Pipelines on VertexAI. Our web service backend is written in Go.  Our infrastructure is managed with Terraform.

Meet the Team

The Core Data Science team is part of the Data team, and consists of experienced Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers. The team is responsible for several impactful products, including a Content Recommendation System, a Health Risk Assessment service, a Content Subject Tagging System, and a Healthcare Question-Answering service. We are also actively developing new products in the Search space

What You Bring:

  • You have strong analytical and data science skills and are excited to apply it in non-traditional domains
  • You know how to break down complex and ambiguous problems to smaller, more manageable sub-problems and iteratively deliver value to customers 
  • You are a strong problem solver and can communicate the challenges and solutions effectively
  • You love taking ownership of your algorithms and its performance and are eager to fix and improve it
  • You drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
  • You have deep experience with data science toolkits like scikit-learn, Keras and Tensorflow, including Python, R, and SQL
  • You have experience working on advanced web applications, with preference given to those written in Go or similar languages
  • You have experience working with Terraform or other IaC frameworks.
  • You are eager to learn from others and help others grow with you

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for base salaries for the position across all Canadian locations. Where in the band you may land is determined by job-related skills/experience. $111,800 - $167,800 CAD
