About the Job

We are actively seeking a Principal Product Designer II, Visual to own and evolve our visual design system as we embark on a full-scale re-design and expansion of our app into new features and align with our physical product and marketing strategy. This role will report directly to the VP of Product Design and supports multiple teams across Life360 delivering on our member experience vision. We are a rapid growth stage company, providing the tools, structure, environment and high standards is pivotal to elevating our design and both training and recruiting the best talent. 

The ideal candidate will thrive in a remote environment, demonstrating exceptional communication and collaboration skills to effectively connect with both the team and stakeholders. Tasked with the alignment of design innovation and business objectives, the Principal Product Designer II, Visual role will be key in shaping delightful and engaging experiences for our members, working in tandem with cross-functional teams to realize our ambitious goals.

The US-based salary range for this position is $187,000-$275,000. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary- therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of medical, dental, vision, financial, and other benefits, as well as equity.

What You’ll Do

Lead a Bold Visual Transformation

  • Define and evolve the visual design language for Life360 across mobile — leading a transformation that raises the bar on quality, emotion, and clarity.
  • Drive a compelling North Star vision and bring it to life across the full product experience, aligning the app’s visual identity with our brand, values, and user needs.
  • Deliver a cohesive design language for the app that ties together our hardware, software and marketing presence.

Elevate Craft and Design Excellence at Every Level

  • Set a high bar and drive design excellence across UI, interaction, and visual systems — from high-level concepts to pixel-perfect execution.
  • Translate product vision into an app that feels modern, unified, and intentional.
  • Leverage and introduce new AI driven tools and workflows for design excellence.

Influence Design at Scale

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and design teams to evolve our design system — ensuring the visual language translates seamlessly into scalable, reusable components.
  • Work with our tech leads to ensure design decisions translate cleanly into code and support velocity for the broader org.

Drive and deliver on a visual transformation and evolution of Life360

  • Play a pivotal role in our full product redesign — shaping how foundational design patterns support both bold transformation and day-to-day evolution.
  • Bring cohesion to the user journey, balancing usability, brand expression, and design consistency.

Champion Design Culture and Standards

  • Set a high bar for visual excellence and inspire others to meet it — ,  through critique, mentorship, and hands-on guidance —  elevating the culture of craft.
  • Integrate accessibility and inclusivity best practices, making our design more usable and welcoming for all.

Explore and Innovate

  • Identify opportunities to use AI and automation to scale visual execution and documentation.
  • Constantly look ahead to future needs, identifying emerging patterns, technologies, and creative directions.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in product design with an emphasis on high-end visual craft, interface design, and design systems.
  • A portfolio that shows exceptional visual work across native mobile (iOS/Android), especially in consumer-facing apps or platforms.
  • Strong experience leading redesigns or major product transformations — you know how to shape vision and guide execution through ambiguity.
  • Mastery of Figma and product prototyping, with a strong understanding of how visuals translate into scalable systems and code.
  • A balance of system-level thinking and hands-on design — you can shape the big picture and sweat the small stuff.
  • Collaborative, strategic, and communicative — you know how to align diverse teams around a shared vision.
  • Deep knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design principles.
  • Self-directed and proactive — able to take initiative and drive outcomes in a fast-moving environment.
