About the role:

Liquid I.V. is looking for a highly motivated, innovative, out-of-the-box thinker to join our R&D Scientific Affairs team as the Claims Substantiation Lead (Associate Principal Scientist) Reporting to the Sr. Director, Scientific Affairs. This role will be responsible for managing claims substantiation for all current products and campaigns as well as future innovations. The Claims Substantiation Lead will be an integral member of the LIV R&D team and will have cross functional collaboration within all levels of the business but in particular with Regulatory Affairs, Brand Marketing and Sales. 

The ideal candidate has a background in nutrition science, sports nutrition, or physiology and has experience with claims substantiation within the food and beverage space. 

Functions and duties of this role include, but not limited to:

  • Evaluate desired claims generated from Marketing and Sales Teams.
  • Develop a partnership with Marketing and Sales teams to creatively design claims to support business needs while always being backed by science.
  • Conduct thorough literature reviews on a wide variety of hydration related topics to ensure up to date substantiation.
  • Work closely with Regulatory Affairs to develop effective cross functional processes for claims substantiation.
  • Ongoing creation of claims substantiation reports in conjunction with RA.
  • Provide guidance on claims generated from internal clinical research.
  • Effectively communicate and lead in a cross-functional team environment, serving as a recognized technical expert.
  • Support QA team with ingredient claim substantiation reviews and competitive ad analysis for current product portfolio.
  • Stay up-to date with scientific publications and updates in hydration science, sports nutrition, and related fields. 

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: 
 Preferred educational requirements: 

  • Master’s in Nutrition, Exercise Science, Physiology or Related Fields. 
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience, with at least 5 years in Claims Substantiation.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of nutrition science, health and wellness, scientific communication, nutrition trends, and hydration and nutrition research.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, draw valid conclusions, and propose solutions.
  • Highly innovative and creative.
  • Excellent written and oral technical communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and teamwork skills, ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office.
  • Expert level proficiency and experience with PowerPoint.

The compensation band for this position is $110,700 - $166,100 annually. The exact salary is determined by various factors including experience, skills, education, geographic location, internal company equity, and budget.  The listed range is applicable only to the annual base salary and does not include additional perks, benefits, or applicable bonus eligibility comprising the total compensation package.
