
Engineer, Homologation (Multiple Openings)

We are currently seeking (4) Homologation Engineers, each specializing in different subject area. This is an exciting opportunity to work cross-functionally across the business, gain exposure to multiple engineering disciplines, and contribute to the future of EV compliance and performance.

Team(s) Focus Areas:
1. Active Safety
As an Active Safety Homologation Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring our vehicles' active safety technologies comply with regulatory requirements, covering both Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and chassis vehicle systems. Responsibilities include:
- Planning and executing testing of active safety systems in-house and with third-party agencies.
- Managing and operating systems such as Vector tools (CANalyzer, CANoe, CANape), IPETRONIK, LINK, OXTS, Racelogic, and bespoke test equipment.
- Utilizing agile development tools such as Jira and JAMA.
- Familiarity with functional safety standards (ISO26262, ASPICE, SOTIF ISO21448) is preferable.
2. Passive and Electrical Safety
In this role, you will support compliance activities for:
- Passive Safety: Occupant protection during impacts, child restraint systems, and pedestrian protection.
- Safety Electronics: Event Data Recorders, emergency call systems, and occupant classification/detection systems.
- Electrical Safety: Vehicle-level protection, post-impact electrical safety, and battery-level testing.
3. Range, Efficiency & Regulatory Reporting
As a Range & Efficiency Homologation Engineer, you will ensure that Lucid conducts range and efficiency testing in compliance with global regulations. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting regulatory range and efficiency testing.
- Creating regulatory reports, managing compliance applications, and tracking regulatory changes.
- Analyzing data and generating insights through models and dashboards.
- Collaborating with regulatory authorities like the EPA and NHTSA.
4. General Safety
This role focuses on body and safety regulatory subjects. Responsibilities include:
- Researching, interpreting, and documenting homologation requirements.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure compliance.
- Staying up to date with evolving global safety regulations.
- Conducting and supporting regulatory testing of general safety subjects.
The Role:
- Work with regulatory authorities such as EPA, CARB, Environment Canada, and Transport Canada.
- Create and maintain model year-specific regulatory applications and reports (CAFE, GHG, ZEV, etc.).
- Track running changes and ensure timely reporting.
- Manage regulatory databases such as EV-CIS, E-cert, E-file, and VEERR.
- Conduct and oversee in-house and third-party regulatory testing.
- Develop expertise in existing and upcoming automotive regulations.
- Assist in homologation program management to prepare for future regulatory changes.
Qualifications:
- General understanding of the automotive industry.
- Basic mechanical and electrical understanding of EVs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to travel domestically as needed, with potential for international travel.
- Ability to perform under time-sensitive circumstances and deliver results.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in automotive regulatory compliance.
- Experience in supporting regulatory testing and approvals.
- Familiarity with regulatory authorities such as EPA, CARB, NHTSA, and UN ministries.
- Knowledge of change and project management principles.
Education:
- BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$113,800 - $138,200 USD
