
Production Supervisor, Stamping
The Production Supervisor in Stamping leads daily operations in the stamping department, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production of OEM metal components. This role is responsible for team leadership, pressroom performance, workflow coordination, standardized work, and supporting all requirements of the ISO 9000 quality management system and Lean manufacturing practices. You will partner closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Engineering to ensure smooth operations, proper material flow, and consistent delivery of parts to downstream processes.
This role will be supporting 2nd shift which runs from 3:30pm - 12:00am
You will:
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and support stamping operators and material handlers.
- Assign daily tasks and manage labor to meet production requirements.
- Promote teamwork, communication, respect, and a positive work culture.
- Build operator capability through training, coaching, and standardized work.
- Ensure attendance, performance, and conduct align with company policies.
Stamping Operations
- Oversee press setup, die changes, coil changes, and troubleshooting support.
- Monitor scrap, downtime, cycle times, and overall pressroom performance.
- Verify that all standardized work is followed consistently.
- Ensure flawless introduction of new or changed parts through proactive planning and communication.
- Support engineering changes (ECR/ PCR) and incorporate new standards safely and effectively.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce all safety standards and ensure a clean, organized work area (5S).
- Be the initial responder for safety incidents and support investigations.
- Conduct/participate in safety checks, equipment follow-ups, and process confirmations.
- Maintain and support ISO 9000 documentation, procedures, audits, and compliance.
Quality Assurance
- Verify that lines produce parts that meet customer and print specifications.
- Escalate quality concerns and lead or support containment activities.
- Document production results and ensure accuracy of production counts.
Material Flow & Production Support
- Coordinate with material handling to ensure proper flow of coils, blanks, and finished goods.
- Ensure accurate use of MES systems for production reporting and schedule adherence.
- Identify data gaps or issues and take corrective action.
- Support synchronous flow with downstream operations
Continuous Improvement
- Support Lean manufacturing initiatives, including waste reduction and process improvement.
- Participate in or lead problem-solving activities at the lowest level possible.
- Develop and share One-Point Lessons and best practices when needed.
You bring:
- High School Diploma/ GED required.
- 2 years experience in metal stamping or automotive manufacturing.
- 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of stamping presses, dies, tooling, and production troubleshooting.
- Ability to read blueprints and follow work instructions.
- Strong communication, coaching, and team-building skills.
- Commitment to a safe, respectful, and collaborative work environment.
- Understanding of ISO 9000 or willingness to learn.
- Ability to work 2nd shift and support overtime or weekends as required.
Preferred
- Experience with laser blankers, transfer presses, or tandem press operations.
- Background in Lean Manufacturing, TPS, 5S, or CI methodologies.
- Familiarity with ERP/MES systems.
- Forklift or overhead crane certification.
