
Data Scientist, Sales Planning and Forecasting
As a Data Scientist for Sales Planning and Forecasting, you will play a critical role in supporting the Sales organization by combining advanced machine-learning forecasting with economic modeling, elasticity analysis, and market interpretation. You will assess how macroeconomic factors, competitive actions, pricing, and incentives influence demand—and translate those insights into actionable guidance optimizing Sales, Product, and Build Planning strategies.
This is a high-impact role with visibility across leadership, shaping vehicle volume planning, market strategy, and long-term revenue outcomes. You will work with cross-functional teams, including product planning, production planning, finance, and data engineering to leverage data used for statistical and machine learning models to improve monthly near-term and annual long-term Lucid planning volumes.
The Role
- Develop, enhance, and maintain advanced statistical and machine-learning models for short- and long-term automotive industry sales forecasts
- Develop and maintain automated dashboards tracking macroeconomic indicators used for short- and long-term industry and Lucid volume forecasts
- Support scenario planning and “what-if” simulations for volume planning, new model introductions, and pricing strategies
- Define and support buildout of scalable data pipelines to automate reporting using Python, SQL, and cloud-based analytics tools
- Ensure high data quality, governance, and alignment across Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, and Marketing data sources
- Conduct exploratory analysis to uncover trends, risks, and opportunities within the automotive market
- Communicate model insights and complex technical concepts in a way that business partners can easily understand and act upon
- Provide analytical support during key planning cycles (e.g., monthly S&OP, annual LRP)
- Provide ad-hoc analysis and reporting on sales planning, forecasting and data insights’ related request
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of proven experience in forecasting, demand planning, econometric modelling, or applied analytics (automotive experience strongly preferred)
- Proficiency in Python/R, SQL, Airflow, Github and modern ML frameworks
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and generate actionable insights
- Strong proficiency in Salesforce and Tableau is highly preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present new solutions and analysis results to stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
