
Head of IT
As Head of IT, you'll lead Lunar Energy's global IT function - setting strategy, building systems, and ensuring operational excellence across our US and UK offices and contract manufacturing sites. This is a hands-on leadership role: you'll develop the IT roadmap while staying close to the technical details, ready to dive into support at any level.
IT is an enabler for every team at Lunar, making this role critical to our growth. You'll own service delivery, internal systems, enterprise applications, and IT infrastructure—ensuring everything runs securely, reliably, and scales with our fast-growing business.

Key Responsibilities
- IT Strategy & Leadership:
- Develop and own the company-wide IT roadmap, aligning technology initiatives with business goals
- Partner with executives and department heads to identify and implement technology solutions that drive efficiency and growth
- Establish IT policies, best practices, and standard operating procedures across the organization
- Infrastructure & Operations:
- Build and manage scalable, reliable, and secure IT infrastructure across office locations and contract manufacturing sites
- Manage our corporate SaaS portfolio (Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, Atlassian, HubSpot, etc.), ensuring effective license management, integration, and security
- Lead IT operations including helpdesk support, asset management, and employee onboarding/offboarding, fostering excellent service
- Cybersecurity & Compliance:
- Develop and implement comprehensive cybersecurity strategy to protect customer information, intellectual property, and corporate data
- Partner with software engineering to maintain compliance with relevant frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2 Type II)
- Oversee identity and access management (IAM), endpoint security (EDR, MDM), and network security protocols
- Develop and manage incident response and disaster recovery plans
- Team & Vendor Management:
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing IT team with a collaborative and innovative culture
- Develop and manage the annual IT budget, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure service level agreements are met
Who You Are (Qualifications)
- 8+ years in IT with at least 3 years in senior leadership (Head of IT, IT Director, or equivalent)
- Proven track record building and scaling IT functions in fast-paced, high-growth technology companies
- Expertise with Google Workspace, Slack, Okta, Atlassian, and MDM platforms (Intune, Kandji, or similar)
- Strong cybersecurity knowledge and experience implementing security frameworks (CIS, NIST, ISO 27001)
- Deep understanding of identity management (Okta, Entra ID), MDM, and modern networking (Zero Trust, SASE)
- Experience managing business systems such as ERP, CRM, and HRIS
- Hands-on, "roll-up-your-sleeves" approach—comfortable moving between strategic planning and tactical execution
- Strong communication skills with ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization
- Budget management experience and vendor negotiation skills
Preferred
- Experience in companies with both hardware and software engineering teams
- Background in SaaS, IoT, or energy technology sectors

Our Compensation Philosophy: Our goal is to ensure that all Lunar Energy employees are fairly compensated. Please note that the salary range information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position provided pursuant to the Pay Transparency for Pay Equity Act for California applicants. The salary range estimate for this position depending on level of experience is $185,000-$230,000 (USD)
The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package & benefits, will be at the company’s sole discretion, and determined by factors including but not limited to years of experience, job level, geographic location, and other relevant business considerations.
