Master Production Scheduler - Hamptonville Metals/Plant 2

Job Summary:

The Master Production Scheduler will be responsible for creating and managing production schedules to ensure efficient operations and timely delivery of parts. It will work closely with Customer Service, Sales, Engineering, Material Planning, and Manufacturing to ensure that the Production Schedule accurately reflects ever-changing customer demand and product availability, while continuously reviewing the scheduling process to optimize factory resources.


Duties and Responsibilities:    

  • Create and continuously update the production schedule in D365 and communicate to the Manufacturing Team
  • Review D365 ERP output and reports, understand and interpret automotive EDI demand (830, 850, 862) and JIT (just-in-time) and JIS (just-in-sequence) to create production schedules,
  • Run open orders report multiple times per day; and adjust schedule as needed
  • Manage day-to-day increases/decreases to the production schedule while facilitating communication between teams to address scheduling conflicts and resource allocation..
  • Investigate opportunities to communize commodities, plan die change-overs that support SMED improvements, and to ensure Press schedules (sequence and quantities) are optimized for equipment/tooling change-over efficiency
  • Recommend and set Safety Stock levels for WIP and FG to ensure 100% on-time customer delivery, while being conscious of Budget and Cash Flow constraints.
  • Maintain D365 Coverage Groups for WIP and FG
  • Assess the impact to capacity, inventory levels, purchasing activity and problem inventory levels that result from any proposed major change to the production schedule.
  • Work with New Product Development Teams to schedule trial/prototype orders.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement: Drive improvements in inventory control strategies, lead times, and lot sizes
  • Participate in and contribute to the Annual Physical Inventory as needed
  • Monitor and respond to customer requests for capacity and inventory status, as required.

 

Required Experience, Education, Skills, and Abilities for Consideration as a Candidate:

  • Experience in production scheduling and MRP/ERP systems and logic
  • Advanced computer skills and proficient in MS Excel (including Lookups and Pivot Tables) and strong data analysis and math skills
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Must understand BOMs, Routings, Product Life Cycle Management, and Supply Chain Best Practices
  • Excellent people and communication skills

 

Preferred or Additional, Experience, Education, Skills and Abilities:

  • ASCM APICS certified
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six-Sigma disciplines
  • Prior D365 experience a plus
  • Advanced Scheduling systems experience a plus
  • Ability to help Lydech expand D365 functionality, especially in Advanced Scheduling
  • Prior experience in Automotive Mfg a plus
  • Associates degree or higher a plus
  • Experience with a broad array of material commodities, including metal alloys and fiberglass insulation used in automotive heat shield manufacturing.
