Loading Dock Receiver

The Mather (Tysons, VA)

We are seeking a Loading Dock Receiver to join our life plan community in Tysons! The Loading Dock Receiver confirms and records the receipt of shipments, prepares items for shipping, load and unload trucks, oversees all incoming and outgoing shipments, maintains inventory accuracy, coordinates with vendors and internal staff, ensures timely deliveries. This full-time, hourly, on-site role reports to the Director of Hospitality and requires schedule flexibility, including availability for weekends and evenings. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Receives and inspects incoming deliveries and stores all product by following HACCP procedures while working to meet the Vision and Core Values of The Mather with enthusiasm and a spirit of cooperation & teamwork,

  • Maintains appropriate paperwork as required.

  • Load and/or unload packages from a variety of vendors delivering to the Experience Centers and resident apartments.

  • Follows processes to receive, unpack and sort incoming products in the designated area.

  • Consults management with quality and quantity concerns and assists with inventory.

  • Inputs all invoices into food and beverage inventory/invoice program.

  • Retrieving resident packages/furniture/equipment and preparing packaging and shipping information for the residents.

  • Stores food product in designated locations ensuring proper temperature controls and proper stock rotation through first in/first-out method.  

  • Works on loading docks under a variety of environmental conditions, and under a variety of temperature conditions (e.g., kitchens, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, etc.)

  • Maintains the cleanliness and proper maintenance of the loading dock, refrigerators, freezers and all storage locations. Ensures that they are kept in a safe and sanitary condition at all times.  Reports any safety or sanitation concerns to management.  Regularly cleans equipment. Maintenance includes, but is not limited to, sweeping, mopping power-washing of loading dock, and weekly deep cleaning. 

  • Assists with equipment assembly and installation as needed.

REQUIRED:

  • Excellent communication skills, being able to communicate clearly and effectively, work cooperatively and respectfully with a diverse set of staff, management team, students and community.  

  • Proficiency with the English language (speaking, reading and writing).

  • Flexibility with schedule and work assignments.  Weekend work, late hours, extended hours, and work outside the unit.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize daily responsibilities and meet strict deadlines.

  • Basic math skills, capable of making simple arithmetic calculations and the ability to analyze digital and analog thermometers, scales and other measuring devices.  Knowledge of weights/measures and conversions.  

  • Ability to interpret specifications on purchase orders, invoices, and equipment sheets.
