Director of Experiential Production (On-Site, Hybrid)

About this role: 

MATTE is seeking a Director of Experiential Production to lead its expanding Experiential Production team. This role will oversee all experiential production operations and drive innovation across a diverse client portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Experiential, the Director will collaborate closely with Creative Directors and Client Service Directors to ensure high-quality production execution, efficient team management, and strategic oversight across MATTE’s experiential projects.

 

Production & Project Leadership

• Lead and oversee experiential production from concept through delivery, ensuring alignment with creative vision and client objectives.
• Guide the production team in developing detailed production plans, schedules, and budgets, encompassing elements such as talent sourcing, location scouting, travel arrangements, and pre-production meetings.
• Oversee the bidding, hiring, and management of production partners, vendors, and freelancers.
• Manage client relationships, providing regular updates, leading production calls, and contributing to pitches.
• Develop and execute robust project scopes, timelines, and staffing plans for projects of varying scale and complexity.
• Continuously assess project risks, addressing potential issues proactively and escalating as needed.
• Monitor budgetary constraints, out-of-scope requests, and secure necessary approvals.

Quality Assurance & Strategic Development

• Partner with the Head of Experiential to develop purpose-driven, impactful solutions and ideas tailored to client needs and brand guidelines.
• Ensure high-level consistency in visual standards and technical specifications across projects.
• Strategically improve internal workflows, production processes, and team policies to enhance quality and efficiency.
• Coach and mentor production staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and quality.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in experiential production, with a proven track record of managing complex projects and budgets.
• Strong background in production workflows and team management, with the ability to guide teams of diverse working styles.
• Solutions-focused with excellent problem-solving skills, ready to navigate unexpected challenges confidently.
• Strong network of industry vendors and connections.
• Skilled in client relationship management, with a client-first mentality and proven success in aligning project outcomes with client goals.
• Experience managing department budgets of $3-5M+.

Salary Range: 120,000-160,000 per year based on experience
