
Software Development Engineer

Hybrid role: 2 days/week in office - Taipei, Taiwan
Role Overview
We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our technology team. As a Software Engineer at MediaAlpha, you will take part in all aspects of the software development lifecycle. This includes working with stakeholders in fixing and improving our MediaAlpha Exchange Product and testing new features and integrations. The ideal candidate will enjoy designing, implementing, and scaling systems that process tens of thousands of high-value transactions a day, while also producing elegant and readable code.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with product managers to define product features and plan deliverables and milestones.
- Understand the company's mission, be able to independently communicate and coordinate effectively across departments, and work with the team to complete projects.
- Participate in the overall software development process, write readable and reliable code, and assist in server maintenance.
- Integrate business partners' products and data into the MediaAlpha system, enabling our partners to analyze their data and improve various metrics through the MediaAlpha platform.
- Write technical documentation and user manuals to help users and colleagues understand and use the system.
- Use script languages (e.g., Perl) to develop software on Linux systems and assist with AWS maintenance tasks (EC2, S3, or CloudFront, etc.).
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical discipline (e.g., computer science)
- 3+ years of experience in software development.
- Familiar with relational databases such as MySQL and proficient in writing high-performance SQL queries.
- Familiar with designing, implementing, and integrating Restful APIs.
- Experienced in development within a Linux operating environment.
- Experience with various third-party API integrations.
- Familiar with JSON and XML formats.
- Skilled in writing unit tests and integration tests.
- Proficient in at least one script language (Perl, PHP, Python, etc.).
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working with product managers and collaborating across departments.
- Excellent design, coding, and execution skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good system design capabilities, able to design highly scalable system architecture.
Language Note:
- Our backend is developed in Perl, and we welcome candidates who are willing to learn it after joining.
