Position Summary: Under general direction of the Farm Manager, this position works in all aspects of small-scale sustainable food production. The Job includes all ongoing tasks associated with vegetable production and will also support the farm’s outreach, education, and community support programs. The Market Farm Assistant is a position that requires at least 2 years of farming experience, preferably in a market farm setting. This position is 40 hours a week, year round, primarily Monday-Friday with frequent evening hours and weekend hours about once a month. This role supports operations in the Aquaponic Greenhouse and Pantry Distribution throughout the winter.

The posted range represents the full hiring range. Offers will not exceed this range, the majority of candidates are placed near the midpoint based on experience and qualifications.
Job Duties & Functions:
- Assist in all aspects of planning, planting, cultivating, harvesting of crops, and maintaining plant health in coordination with the Market Farm Manager and Farm Assistant.
- Taking a leading role in seeding, potting up, and maintenance of plant starts for the Dahlia Market Farm and partner farms that
- Help to maintain the Netafim irrigation system.
- Provide accurate record-keeping and reporting on farm outcomes including harvest totals, seed dates and transplant dates.
- Assist in the Aquaponic Greenhouse as well as pantry distribution throughout the winter and as needed throughout the year.
- Aid in the coordination of market farm processes while the manager is otherwise occupied.
- Help prepare and coordinate produce distribution including farm stand, pantry, subscriptions, food access, and donation programs.
- Drive the company van to pick up food from the Food Bank of the Rockies and other partners
- Follow all food safety protocols
- Assist in planning for and attending special Farm-related events at the Dahlia Campus for Health and Well-Being and occasionally off-site
- Attend meetings with Farms and Gardens partners and outreach team, as appropriate
- Facilitate communication and understanding of site programs, services, goals and values.
- Assist and often lead, farm tours, volunteer days, cooking demonstrations/classes, and various social events throughout the year, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 2 Years of farming experience required including use of farming hand tools, and knowledge of mid-scale composting.
- Experience working with volunteers, children (pre-k through 12), people with disabilities, and diverse communities and individuals is a plus.
- Experience working in different food distribution operations including CSAs, subscriptions, farm stands, pantries, etc is highly preferred.
- Must have valid Colorado Driver’s license and a recent clean driving record
- Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred.
- Food safety knowledge, PSA training preferred.
Work Location: 3401 Eudora Street, Denver CO. 80207
Shift/Hours: 40 hours per week, primarily Monday-Friday with weekend hours about once a month and regularly working evenings on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays.
Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling lifting up to 50 lbs, repetitive hand/finger motions, manual dexterity. Daily work requires extended use of hand tools with long and short handles, and routinely requires spending 6 - 8 hours on their feet. May involve early mornings, evenings, weekends, and variable hours based on season/weather. Prolonged sun exposure.
