The Data Engineer will manage our Azure-based data warehouse, develop and maintain data pipelines, and implement a robust, scalable, and optimized end-state target data model. This role requires a strong foundation in data engineering principles, hands-on expertise with Azure and Python, and stakeholder collaboration to align technical solutions with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Platform Management
- Oversee and maintain the Azure-based data warehouse, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
- Monitor and optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing within the platform.
- Data Pipelines and Transformation
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using Python, Azure Data Factory, or other Azure-native tools.
- Ensure ETL/ELT processes are efficient, reliable, and scalable.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data ingestion, transformation, and delivery issues.
- Target Data Model Implementation
- Develop and implement the end-state target data model to support analytics, reporting, and business intelligence needs.
- Work with stakeholders to align data models with business requirements and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Power BI Integration
- Collaborate with analysts to understand how data is consumed in Power BI and design solutions that meet reporting and visualization needs.
- Ensure data models are optimized for seamless integration with Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Collaboration and Support
- Partner with data analysts, scientists, and business teams to understand requirements and deliver data solutions.
- Provide technical expertise and support for data-related projects and initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement

- Identify opportunities to improve data architecture, pipelines, and processes.
- Stay updated on emerging data engineering trends and Azure capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: 1-2 years in data engineering, with hands-on experience in:
- Azure Data Platform (Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, etc.)
- Python for data pipelines and transformation.
- Data modeling, schema design, and optimization.
- Understanding how data is consumed in Power BI and optimizing data models for reporting.
- Skills:
- Strong SQL expertise for querying and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Knowledge of cloud-native architectures and best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the financial services industry or familiarity with investment management concepts.
- Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices in Azure.
- Exposure to machine learning pipelines and advanced analytics tools.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance standards.
