Compliance Testing Program Manager
Mercury is building a complete finance stack for startups. We work hard to create the easiest and safest banking* experience possible to simplify entrepreneurs' and business owners’ financial lives. To accomplish this mission, not only do we have to build/maintain a magical banking platform but must also develop and uphold the trust and safety of our customers and the financial industry.
As part of this effort, we’re looking for a Compliance Testing Program Manager to enhance and scale our compliance testing program. This role will be instrumental in developing testing methodologies, refining operating procedures, and elevating documentation standards to ensure alignment with regulatory expectations and industry best practices. You’ll help assess regulatory applicability, design and execute both manual and automated compliance tests, and communicate key findings to stakeholders. Over time, you will become a subject matter expert on Mercury’s operations and compliance obligations, contributing to the strength of our compliance and risk management framework.
*Mercury is a financial technology company, not a bank. Banking services provided by Choice Financial Group, Column N.A., and Evolve Bank & Trust, Members FDIC.
As part of the journey, we would expect you to:
- Enhance Compliance Testing Methodology: Enhance and refine testing frameworks to align with regulatory expectations and industry best practices.
- Refine Operating Procedures & Documentation Standards: Improve existing procedures and documentation to enhance clarity, consistency, and scalability.
- Assess Regulatory Applicability & Develop Risk-Based Testing Schedule: Partner with Compliance to evaluate regulatory applicability and risk exposure across products and services, using these insights to shape the Assurance testing schedule and prioritize testing in alignment with business needs.
- Develop Data-Driven Testing Strategies: Utilize data analytics to design tests, identify trends, and enhance overall compliance coverage.
- Optimize & Automate Testing Processes: Identify opportunities for automation within compliance testing, partnering with engineering and operations teams to drive efficiencies.
- Execute Manual & Automated Compliance Testing: Design and perform compliance testing through both manual and automated techniques, including reviewing and investigating potential exceptions identified through automated testing to identify patterns and root causes.
- Communicate Findings & Draft Reports: Deliver clear, concise, and actionable reports, translating complex compliance issues into business-relevant insights.
Some things that might make you successful in a role like this:
- Experience in compliance testing: Strong background in manual/automated testing, control validation, and regulatory assessments.
- Regulatory & Risk Expertise: Ability to interpret regulations, assess applicability, evaluate risk exposure, and translate requirements into effective testing strategies.
- Data & Automation Expertise: Familiarity with designing compliance tests using data analytics and identifying automation opportunities.
- Process-Oriented & Detail-Driven: Ability to refine methodologies, streamline workflows, and elevate documentation standards.
- Strong Communicator: Ability to clearly and confidently convey compliance testing results, both verbally and in writing. Must be able to draft well-structured, compelling reports and lead discussions with stakeholders—from process walkthroughs to issue identification and agreement.
- Industry Experience: Prior experience in fintech, banking, or other regulated environments.
- Adaptability & Business Process Acumen: Ability to quickly grasp and understand complex business processes.
This role offers the opportunity to shape and scale a compliance testing program in a dynamic, high-growth environment. If you enjoy structured problem-solving, regulatory complexity, and leveraging technology for smarter compliance, we’d love to hear from you!
