Senior AML QC Specialist
As a Senior AML QC Specialist, you’ll be responsible for handling quality reviews for AML transaction monitoring alerts, escalated account investigations, and unusual activity reports. Delivering feedback about team members, identifying improvements to processes and procedures, responding to general AML questions, escalating to the appropriate teams or individuals when needed, and transaction reviews. You will report directly to the AML Investigations Manager and will be supported by a highly functional Risk team.
You will:
- Maintain a positive user experience, while mitigating any potential risk to Mercury
- Review case investigations for UAR and No-UAR filings to ensure the appropriate risk decisions are applied.
- Sample and evaluates system generated alerts in accordance with financial crimes and BSA/AML compliance expectations.
- Makes appropriate risk decisions related to financial crimes risk.
- Improve on the design of Mercury’s AML quality program
- Identify opportunities to reduce unnecessary volumes through false positive rule proposals
- Assist with creation of program supporting controls and documentation
- Autonomously manage projects that impact AML Investigations
- Manage escalations from investigations
- Provide feedback based on quality reviews with a view to upleveling the team
- Remain up to date on bank partner requirements and procedures
You should:
- Experience in detecting fraud, money laundering, or other financial crimes related behavior in banking, fintech, or other financial services through vendor AND in-house developed transaction monitoring rules
- Fluent in the language of bank transactions, including ACH, check, debit card, credit card, and wire transfers, both domestic and international
- Understand the business banking landscape and have familiarity with international activity and ownership
- Exercise empathy and understanding when communicating with users
- Communicate complicated concepts with efficiency and clarity, both in speech and writing
- Manage relationships with external parties with confidence and kindness
- Work with efficiency and focus
- Understand how to keep an organized, clean inbox

Our target new hire base salary ranges for this role are the following:
- US employees in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $120,300 - $150,400
- US employees outside of New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, or the San Francisco Bay Area: $108,300 - $135,400
- Canadian employees (any location): CAD $113,700 - $142,100
