Safety Coordinator - Chicago
The Safety Coordinator provides professional knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of safety, health and environmental programs. The Safety Coordinator will assist the Safety team in the development, coordination and implementation of environmental health and safety programs across all business units at Metropolis and assists in the organizational safety, health and environmental compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and company policies.
* Position requires travel, approximately 30% of time within the United States and Canada.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with operating units to ensure compliance with Metropolis safety policies and all applicable federal, state and local legislation and codes governing safety and health.
- Design and implement regulatory guidelines in accordance with OSHA, DOT, EPA regulations and safety needs of the organization.
- Utilize our Risk Management Information System to analyze statistics and trends. Ensure information on incidents is shared adequately across all locations.
- Ensure proper OSHA record management system is maintained.
- Complete and/or participate in the management of all required OSHA reports.
- Review safety policies and practices to ensure they are current and appropriate, conduct hazard and risk assessments and develop new or, where necessary make recommendations to Risk Management to amend safety policies and procedures.
- Track and analyze ongoing safety programs, conduct periodic evaluations and provide safety statistics and performance metrics.
- Continually seek opportunities to improve the knowledge and skill of the business units and location managers/supervisors in order to improve systems and positively impact the safe operation of the business.
- Ability to produce social media type safety promotions (memes, videos, etc.)
- Promote safety and health awareness in the organization.
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Occupational Safety or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of two years of safety and health experience.
- Knowledge of federal and state safety and health and DOT regulations/standards.
- Prior experience in the service and/or transportation sector is preferred.
- Position requires travel, approximately 30% of time within the United States and Canada.
- Must be willing and able to meet travel requirements for this role (approximately 30% travel in US and Canada).
