Vice President, Corporate Communications

The Vice President, Corporate Communications leads the strategy and execution of the company’s overall corporate communications plan to foster and enhance the reputation of MindMed. The role will be responsible for ensuring the company is appropriately and strategically positioned with analysts, investors, media, government officials, employees, patient advocacy groups and all other relevant stakeholders. This individual is directly responsible for the development and execution of integrated communications programs that increase awareness and understanding of MindMed’s mission, business priorities and achievements. The Vice President oversees external and internal communications, digital and social communications, and corporate branding and is accountable for preparing and activating issues management strategies to protect the reputation of our company and ensure that communication strategies align with MindMed’s core objectives. This position reports to the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Executive Team to develop and execute a comprehensive, best-in-class investor relations and corporate communications program that aligns with company strategy and leverages a strong understanding of the investment and biotech communities to enhance the perception and visibility of MindMed.
- Provide strategic counsel and comprehensive support to executives regarding corporate reputation strategies as well as media and speaking opportunities; oversee development of thought leadership programs focused on elevating visibility for MindMed as a leading biotech company.
- Gather real-time insights and analysis from analyst reports, investment sentiment and competitor activity, and effectively prepare the leadership team/other internal stakeholders for external interactions.
- Share market intelligence and investor perceptions of the company’s performance, and make sure investors are represented as a key stakeholder in the formation/execution of program strategy and communications.
- Support the quarterly earnings process, annual report and shareholder meeting, and other relevant external disclosures.
- Create and execute annual corporate and product communications plans; maintain in-depth knowledge of the company’s current business and portfolio including business goals, strategies and market challenges; create and manage a range of communication materials (press releases, key message and Q&A documents, media pitches and briefing materials) and related content for use by spokespeople and with media/investor audiences.
- Lead internal communications in partnership with HR and integrate relevant business updates into employee engagement strategies; lead a coordinated effort to identify, create and publish dynamic content across a range of communication channels to reach various stakeholder groups and audiences.
- Oversee digital and social communications by directing the research, planning and development of comprehensive corporate brand strategies and digital programs, including key messaging and storytelling and integrated engagement activities for priority stakeholder audiences.
- Partner with CEO, CFO, CMO, CCO and other senior executives to build and protect the reputation of company, leading company preparation and response around business opportunities and reputational issues.
- Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to integrate and align messaging and strategies with efforts led by R&D, business development, investor relations, legal, government affairs, advocacy and industry relations, regulatory, medical affairs and others.
- Serve as a company spokesperson for corporate and product topics; establish strong relationships with media that reach key stakeholders including investors, local communities, government stakeholders, prospective employees and others; keep company executives and cross-functional partners informed of relevant media trends and coverage that could impact business performance and/or reputation; monitor and measure performance indicators for programs and initiatives; provide regular reports on progress and impact.
- Establish and evolve processes and standards to guide the work of corporate affairs function ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Manage budget and other allocated resources; identify, select and manage agency partners and other vendors to support various communications needs.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required. Communications experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical or healthcare industry required as an accomplished corporate communications professional with 15+ years of experience, including 7+ years of IR/Corporate Communications experience. Experience in communications strategic planning, media relations, executive communications, product public relations, public affairs, patient advocacy, and scientific communications desired.
- Self-motivated and directed leader with a track record of setting, driving and delivering against integrated corporate reputation strategies.
- Proficiency in global product launches, including disease state and patient education programs.
- Experience in investor relations and environmental, social and governance practices.
- Expertise in media relations, both proactive and reactive, with established relationships that will be relevant for MindMed.
- Proven reputation management and issues management expertise.
- Experience using data analytics to understand stakeholder needs and perceptions and using those insights to build measurable plans that align with business objectives.
- Proven experience in employee engagement and communications practices.
- A superb writer and digital content strategist/creator with a pulse on current technology and digital/social media best practices (including SEO) that drive innovative, modern corporate communications.
- Working knowledge of the legislative/regulatory landscape with an ability to capitalize on potential opportunities while responding to ongoing threats and challenges.
- Able to build and maintain close, collaborative relationships with all levels of the organization to ensure alignment and integration of strategies, tactics and content.
- Adept at working with a sense of urgency in deadline-driven environment with executive-level leaders; able to balance competing priorities with sound, experience-based counsel.
- Strong executive presence, communication and influencing skills.
- Possesses sound judgment, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
- Strong people leader who enjoys and prioritizes helping people develop in their careers and who will help build the corporate affairs function for the future.

- Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time.
The starting base pay range for this position is $208,982.00 - $290,000.00. Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, skill set, years of experience, and the employee’s geographic location.
