About the Operational Finance Team
The Operational Finance Team is responsible for a variety of tasks that are instrumental in keeping the business running on a day-to-day basis. There are six teams within the Operational Finance Function each serve a specific purpose to the company: (1) Accounting and Accounts Payable - Accurately records all vendor related transactions and keeps our vendors paid, (2) AR Team - provisions all customers access to Mixpanel and ensure proper revenue recognition and records all customer payments and ensures we get paid on time, (3) Payroll - prepares payrolls for all employees world wide. (4) Deal Desk - facilitates in the contract review and execution of customer contracts and assists the sales team to accelerate the deal cycle. (5) Procurement - oversees and facilitates the source-to-pay process with an objective of efficiency and cost savings.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our global finance operations and ensure the accuracy, compliance, and scalability of our financial processes as we grow internationally. This role oversees accounting, billing, collections, and payroll across multiple regions, while driving cross-functional initiatives to improve efficiency and support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of accounting principles, exceptional organizational skills, and strong attention to detail. They are reliable, able to manage projects independently and collaboratively, and committed to maintaining timely, accurate month-end close processes. You will report to the Corporate Controller.
Responsibilities
- Manage Global Finance Functions: Oversee accounting, billing/collections, and payroll teams across multiple regions, ensuring accurate and timely financial operations.
- Ensure Compliance: Manage consolidated financial reporting under US GAAP, implement new accounting standards, and maintain strong internal controls.
- Audit & Reporting: Direct preparation of financial statements, audit schedules, and liaise with external auditors.
- Finance Initiatives & Policies: Identify and action key finance initiatives related to strategy, process improvements, and efficiencies; clearly communicate accounting policies to other departments and create/update procedures in line with best practices and changing requirements.
- Drive Process Improvements: Identify and enact initiatives that improve efficiency, scalability, and automation across finance operations.
- Partner Cross-Functionally: Collaborate with Legal, FP&A, IT, and other departments to align policies and support international growth.
- Team Development: Support and mentor finance staff, delegating effectively while fostering a culture of accountability and growth.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (MBA or Master’s preferred).
- CPA designation and deep familiarity with US GAAP.
- 7+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including 3+ years as Controller or equivalent senior finance leadership role.
- Proven experience in international operations, including multi-country payroll, consolidations, and statutory reporting.
- SaaS industry experience with revenue recognition under ASC 606.
- Demonstrated success in leading large, distributed teams, including managing managers.
- Strong technical accounting skills combined with the ability to think strategically and drive business outcomes.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills with sharp attention to detail.
- Experience in project management, system implementations, and process transformation.
Bonus Points For
- Familiarity with key systems: NetSuite, Navan, Corpay, Paylocity, UKG (or similar financial/ERP tools).
- Experience with M&A due diligence, integration, and post-acquisition financial operations.
- Exposure to international tax, transfer pricing, and intercompany transactions.
- Track record of scaling finance operations in a high-growth, venture-backed company.
Compensation
The amount listed below is the total target cash compensation (TTCC) and includes base compensation and variable compensation in the form of either a company bonus or commissions. Variable compensation type is determined by your role and level. In addition to the cash compensation provided, this position is also eligible for equity consideration and other benefits including medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage. Our salary ranges are determined by role and level and are benchmarked to the SF Bay Area Technology data cut released by Radford, a global compensation database. The range displayed represents the minimum and maximum TTCC for new hire salaries for the position across all of our US locations. To stay on top of market conditions, we refresh our salary ranges twice a year so these ranges may change in the future. Within the range, individual pay is determined by experience, job-related skills, qualifications, and other factors.
