About The Role

As the People Operations Generalist at Mochi Health, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our People function. • Administer employee benefits (health, dental, vision, leave programs)

  • Support payroll processes, including pre-payroll audits, tax documentation, and status changes

  • Partner with vendors to troubleshoot issues and ensure accurate deductions

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (especially in multi-state contexts)

  • Maintain up-to-date policies, employee handbooks, and legal postings

  • Conduct internal audits and manage sensitive documentation securely

  • Coordinate end-to-end onboarding for new hires (system access, welcome kits, benefits setup)

  • Continuously improve employee lifecycle touchpoints for quality and consistency

  • Be the first line of support for employee questions around HR policies, benefits, and time off

  • Help resolve employee relations issues with discretion and empathy

Who You Are

  • 2+ years in a People Ops or HR Generalist role, ideally in a high-growth, CA-based, and/or multi-state setting

  • Hands-on experience with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., BambooHR, ADP, Gusto)

  • Proven ability to support payroll, benefits administration, and HR compliance

  • Systems thinker with a love for process, structure, and automation

  • Thrives on clean data, accurate records, and operational efficiency

  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated; you don’t drop balls and you always follow through

  • An excellent communicator, capable of effectively collaborating with employees, managers, and external vendors

  • Confident navigating U.S. employment law, especially across multiple states

  • Experience scaling HR systems at an early-stage startup

Nice to Have
