About the Role

Moloco is a machine learning company operating at massive scale (we ingest 10 petabytes of training data per day) and our models are blazingly fast (returning predictions in 10 milliseconds or less); and a profitable unicorn (we're valued at $2B & been profitable for the last 17+ quarters). 

As the Lead on Cloud FinOps, you’ll provide cross-functional leadership and establish a center of excellence for Cloud Financial Operations at Moloco.  Cloud FinOps responsibilities include cost analytics, capacity planning, and driving financial and technical cost optimizations for Moloco’s cloud infrastructure assets.

What you'll do

  • Develop and implement strategies for optimizing cloud costs, including rightsizing, reserved instances, savings plans, and eliminating waste. Identify and reduce inefficiencies across multi-cloud environments (emphasis on GCP). 
  • Establish governance processes and policies for cloud spending, ensuring budget adherence and consistent cost reporting. 
  • Monitor usage trends, create financial forecasts, and track cloud expenditures. 
  • Work closely across engineering, finance, and business stakeholders to ensure cloud resources are used efficiently. Conduct regular meetings and present findings to leadership, focusing on trends, savings opportunities, and spend analysis. 
  • Use data analysis tools to create dashboards, reports, and insights on cloud usage and costs. Provide actionable recommendations to optimize cloud usage based on data insights. 
  • Work with Finance to develop and maintain cloud budgets, helping teams forecast future cloud expenses. Conduct financial planning and analysis, considering upcoming projects and anticipated cloud resource needs. 
  • Establish, promote, and lead FinOps best practices across the organization. Implement tagging, reporting standards, and educate teams on cost-effective cloud usage and FinOps principles. 
  • Build and lead a focused team of FinOps engineers

What you'll need to succeed

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.  Direct or indirect experience with Finance or Accounting a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in Cloud FinOps, cloud architecture, or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (GCP preferred) and cloud cost management tools (e.g., CloudHealth, Cost Explorer, etc).
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, Dashboarding tools, etc).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams. 
  • Relevant FinOps or cloud certifications (e.g., Certified FinOps Practitioner, GCP Certified Cloud Architect) are a plus. 

Our Compensation And Benefits (for United States Residents Only)

In accordance with various state laws, the range provided is a reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role. The actual amount may be higher or lower, based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. We also offer a competitive benefits package.

Base Pay Range:

$179,340 - $239,010 USD
