The Opportunity
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Accounting Director will oversee financial operations that ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Leading a team of 5+ professionals, this role drives invoicing, revenue recognition, audit readiness, reconciliation, and continuous process improvements while collaborating cross-functionally with finance, operations, and external partners to support scalable growth.

About This Role at Momentum
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Oversee the general ledger, monthly close process, and financial reporting in compliance with GAAP
- Manage account reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries, ensuring accuracy and control
- Maintain billing operations, ensuring timely invoicing and reconciliation of customer payments
Revenue Recognition & Subscription Management
- Lead revenue recognition processes, ensuring alignment with financial reporting standards
- Ensure compliance with ASC 606 revenue recognition principles for accurate reporting
- Oversee subscription contracts, renewals and invoicing, ensuring seamless billing and collections
- Analyze and track MRR (Monthly Recurring Revenue), churn, and expansion trends
Audit & Compliance
- Lead audit preparation, ensuring financial statements and supporting documentation are accurate
- Maintain and improve internal controls for regulatory and corporate compliance
- Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors
Reconciliation & Process Optimization
- Own bank, intercompany, and balance sheet reconciliation, ensuring financial integrity
- Identify and implement efficiencies in accounting workflows, ERP utilization, and automation
- Drive standardization and automation of routine accounting tasks and reporting
Leadership & Team Development
- Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a collaborative culture
- Set clear goals, conduct performance reviews, and support career growth
Strategic Finance Support
- Partner with Finance and Operations on strategic planning, cash flow forecasting, and budgeting
- Contribute insights to financial modeling, investor reporting, and M&A due diligence
Qualifications
We’re looking for someone who:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
- Previous experience at PE-backed companies in media/SaaS industry preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, audit processes, revenue recognition, and internal controls
- Experience with ERP/accounting software
- Proven ability to develop and manage teams, influencing cross-functional stakeholders
- Track record of problem-solving and delivering solutions with success, handling complex business transactions, and establishing and enhancing infrastructure and processes
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
When considering experience for this role, we typically find a great fit with candidates who have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the specified field. Additionally, experience in a holding company and/or in a start-up environment is a definite plus.

The base salary range for this position may vary based on location. Actual compensation will be determined by role, level, and location, considering additional factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. For roles eligible for remote work, the base salary is tailored to the designated work location. In addition to the base salary, candidates may be eligible to receive a discretionary annual bonus, determined based on both the company's business performance and individual contributions.
