Our Shared Services team is expanding, and we're looking for a dedicated Policy and External Reporting Manager to join us. This pivotal role will be instrumental in driving effective policy governance, accurate and timely external regulatory reporting, particularly for the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) and Non-Prudential Regulatory Returns (NPRR).
You'll report to our Director of Risk and Control, providing specialised expertise and driving the implementation of key policy and external reporting initiatives, ensuring our compliance obligations are met with precision.
⭐ About our Shared Services Team
The Shared Services Team sits with the Risk & Control Discipline at Monzo (RCD) and provide essential support to Monzo's first line of defence, empowering business teams and Risk Partners with the tools and guidance they need to effectively manage risk.
This team is responsible for coordinating key processes like control testing, RCSA, facilitating risk committee reporting, and delivering accurate insights for risk, control, and issue management. The work that this team does ensures the Business can proactively manage risk and meet its regulatory obligations.
This team is all about ensuring we always have a clear, accurate picture of our risks and how we're managing them, helping the entire bank make smarter strategic decisions and report confidently to our Board and regulators.
🔑 You’ll play a key role by…
Managing External Non-Prudential Regulatory Reporting: Taking direct, end-to-end responsibility for various external regulatory reporting requirements, including those from the CMA and NPRR. This involves:
- Overseeing the timely and accurate submission of all required non-compliance and compliance reports.
- Leading the definition and application of Monzo's materiality thresholds for non-compliance, ensuring alignment with regulatory objectives.
- Driving the implementation of new regulatory reporting structures and contributing to their ongoing review and refinement.
- Maintaining and managing the NPRR inventory, including ensuring data integrity, updating submission dates, and coordinating with return owners.
- Liaising with relevant internal teams (e.g. Compliance, Legal, product teams) for horizon scanning and to identify new or changing reporting requirements.
Driving Policy Implementation & Reporting: - Leading the implementation of enhancements to policies and standards, and the processes around managing and embedding them, ensuring they are fit for purpose for reporting and oversight.
- Leading the strategic mapping of policies to regulations, risks, and controls, and ensuring this mapping is accurately reflected in our systems for reporting.
- Overseeing the data related to policy adherence and effectiveness, working to improve the quality and reporting of this information.
- Collaborating with policy owners to ensure reporting on policy obligations is clear and consistent.
- Providing Technical Expertise for Policy & External Reporting: Acting as a technical expert, providing guidance and implementing improvements on best practices for reporting specifically related to policy management and external regulatory submissions.
- Enhancing Policy & External Reporting Processes: Proactively identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within policy management and external reporting workflows, then leading the design and implementation of automation initiatives to ensure scalability and accuracy.
- Collaborating for Policy & Reporting Success: Working closely with internal data teams to ensure seamless data flow for policy and external reporting, and partnering with Risk Partners on operational aspects of policy adherence reporting. This includes ensuring data accuracy and quality for risk reporting that feed into internal reporting.
🤩 We’d love to hear from you if you are…
- Experienced in external non-prudential regulatory reporting and risk policy management, with a solid understanding of compliance requirements in a dynamic environment.
- A skilled individual contributor, comfortable owning and delivering end-to-end projects, particularly those with a strong regulatory or policy focus.
- Experienced in designing and implementing process improvements and automations within policy and reporting workflows, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and scale.
- Comfortable working with and optimising risk management systems for policy and reporting purposes.
- An excellent communicator, both written and verbal, capable of providing clear technical guidance and influencing stakeholders on compliance and reporting matters.
- Proactive, able to set your own priorities within agreed goals, and adept at identifying when to escalate for input or support. A self-starter, comfortable with shaping outcomes.
- Passionately about data accuracy, regulatory compliance, and continuously improving how we manage and report on risk.
